A trained soldier of the Galactic Federation, he was sent aboard a spaceship that held a dangerous secret, Experiment 626. He later held a desperate struggle to retain the captured extraterrestrial, dealing with three treacherous Keyblade wielders, Terra, Ven, and Aqua. He stands seven meters high and is strangely fish-like.

- Captain Gantu is second-in-command of Planet Turro, the main setting of the film's beginning, when Terra, Aqua, and Ven's visit to Deep Space is thought to take place.
- Higher quality versions of recent scans that had confirmed Gantu's appearance in Birth by Sleep show that he wields a laser gun as in the movie, having 1,000 HP.
