The only thing that ever came up was speculation, and it seems we might have started that rumor (inadvertently). What I think happened was that we misinterpreted an interview where Tetsuya Nomura stated that past players would "make new discoveries regarding foreshadowing of sequels and lines that reference previous lines and such".
