Nightmare Clash is a Dual Link that appears in Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance. It allows the user to bombard the opponent with warping headlong rushes.
Mechanics[edit]
Nightmare Clash is a Dual Link usable by Riku. It consumes both Dream Eaters, regardless of species or the amount of Link Gauge is filled, and completely fills their Link Gauges. Nightmare Clash clads the user in a golden aura while they hover over the arena. While in use, Riku's commands are unavailable, he cannot move, and the Attack command is replaced with Nightmare Clash. Nightmare Clash makes the user dash towards the enemy and warp to either the other side of the arena or around their starting location. Nightmare Clash can nullify any damage received by Riku when parrying an attack.
If Riku's HP drops to 0 with the Auto-Life status active, he will get revived, but be left hovering and unable to use any action. If he has Once More equipped, this situation can lead to a softlock.
Once the Armored Ventus Nightmare's HP reaches 1, the Nightmare Clash command changes to Finish, which allows Riku to leap into the air, flip, and slam back into the ground, similar to Kick Dive. The Finish command attack is required in order to defeat the Armored Ventus Nightmare.
Should the Link Gauges hit 0 while the Finish command is available, Riku will revert, with the Finish command staying available until the Armored Ventus Nightmare recovers from its stun status, where Riku's Finish command reverts to Attack.
Should the Link Gauges hit 0 before the Finish command is available, Riku will revert, with the Nightmare Clash command staying available, but Riku can no longer gain access to the Finish command, even if using Nightmare Clash puts the Armored Ventus Nightmare's HP to 1. The use of Nightmare Clash during that time makes Riku regain his lost golden aura but that aura has no effect. Afterwards, Riku takes heavy damage after the Armored Ventus Nightmare's attack, and his Nightmare Clash command reverts to Attack.
When Riku reverts, Riku becomes able to move again, but cannot use any action other than that, using his Nightmare Clash/Finish/Attack command, and jumping (including Doubleflight). The Attack command during that time drops prizes if Sora has defeated Xemnas during Bonus Time.
