On most places on the wiki, including the main page, content pertaining to Kingdom Hearts coded is placed before 358/2 Days. This is based on the 2008 release date of the the pre-installed promotional side episode. On other parts of the wiki, coded content is placed after Birth by Sleep, based on the 2010 release date of Kingdom Hearts Re:coded. However, it seems like the official Square Enix position is...neither of these.

All official sources the place the game between 358/2 Days and Birth by Sleep. This is based on the June 3, 2009 release date of the first actual coded episode. This is most clearly seen on the official JP site and the series overview in the 20th Anniversary recap, but this pattern is everywhere. For example, in Melody of Memory, Key Scene cards are ordered by game release date, and Re:coded scenes come between KHD and BBS ones. Even the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra -World of Tres- program places the Re:coded song between these two other games' medleys.

Given that SE doesn't seem to count the promotional/demo episode as the actual game's release date – and consistently sticks the game between KHD and BBS – I think it would make the most sense to move our coverage of Kingdom Hearts coded and Re:coded to this "official" spot in the timeline. (Also, given the relatively small scope of the game, this wouldn't actually be that major a change to wiki content.) Thoughts?

We should follow the official order. I do have to note that in the Gallery section of the Memorial Ultimania, coded/Re:coded is placed between KH2FM and Days. But since most sources place it between Days and BBS, we should do the same (and update the release date as well).
Let me know what needs to be changed, so I can let the bot handle it. TheSilentHero 10:44, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
The ordering of Game tags at the top of pages would need changing:
  • |KHC|RCO|358|358|KHC|RCO
  • |BBS|FMB|RCO|RCO|BBS|FMB
  • |BBS|FMB|KHC|RCO|KHC|RCO|BBS|FMB
Same for the ordering of games in world/character infoboxes:
  • |game2=Kingdom Hearts coded |game3=Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days |game2=Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days |game3=Kingdom Hearts coded
  • |game3=Kingdom Hearts coded |game4=Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days |game3=Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days |game4=Kingdom Hearts coded
  • |game4=Kingdom Hearts coded |game5=Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days |game4=Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days |game5=Kingdom Hearts coded
We might need to look at ordering the tabs in item/spell/ability infoboxes, but I'm not exactly sure how to manage that. —Aid1043 (talk) 21:16, 26 December 2022 (UTC)
I think I have taken care of most of it, though there might be an infobox or tabbed table somewhere I missed. I do have a question concerning this, though. Look at Attack Boost, for example. It's not in the original coded, so it was introduced in BBS. However, if we consider coded and Re:coded before BBS, should the Re:coded section be placed before the BBS section? And how does that work with the "introduced in..." sentence? TheSilentHero 17:46, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
I've noticed a similar situation with the Keyblades from KH2 that were added to RECoM, like Photon Debugger. I think it's a bit jarring to have the first section and infobox tab be what is technically a later appearance. It would be wrong to say that Attack Boost was introduced in Re:coded or that Bond of Flame was introduced in Re:Chain of Memories, so maybe for situations like these, we should have an exception to place the remakes afterwards. —Aid1043 (talk) 18:26, 29 December 2022 (UTC)
