Hey there, hi there, ho there! So! The KHWiki's Twitter account... it's a thing! And I think it'd be a good idea to make it more of a thing, along with our Facebook page. I've been sitting on both for the last couple years, occasionally retweeting things and such, but not really using it as I've been busy with a nearly-four-and-a-half-year ongoing project, its subprojects, and its social networks. Despite that, the wiki's Twitter and Facebook pages are still pretty popular. Our last Facebook post was in 2019 celebrating 200 likes; now we're just 2 like away from 1,000. Our Twitter's just over 8,500 followers. I'd like to do more with them, but I just don't have the time to do it all myself. SO! From what I can tell, the wiki's still semi-active; I figured it might be the right time to consider nominations/suggestions/volunteers to help staff our social channels!

Here's how I'd like it to work: I'm not going to be giving up the accounts' access, at least not yet. But I'd like to have more people to discuss things to post on our social channels. Whatever we post, I'd like them to still bring people back to the wiki and try to keep a professional voice, but not an overly stuffy one, if that makes sense. In the past, we've had a schedule for stuff like trivia, featured content from the wiki, etc. We could discuss here what kinds of stuff we want our social channels to post. Then, we'd have a channel on the Discord server for those who will be part of our social media coordination team and there we'd discuss the specific posts. We could even discuss other social networks to sign up for (you know, since Twitter's...in an interestingly tight spot of...someone's making...).

I don't want to be too gatekeepy about this, but I'd like the coordinators to be people who are actively editing on the wiki. No random KH fans from Twitter, please. Let me know what you guys think!

{{NinjaSheik|text=I totally meant to do this earlier when this was brought up on the Discord, but I got busy and time got away from me. I don't keep track of the social media accounts for the KHWiki, so I am surprised to hear that the FB is quite popular, since I've viewed it as a dying, outdated site. ^_^; I do wonder if it might be possible to just focus on a single social media rather than multiple ones since it can be hard to coordinate across different platforms, but I understand that can be difficult if the aim is more exposure. Maybe that's something that be discussed, depending on what happens to certain platforms *coughs* Twitter *coughs*, in the future.
On that note, while I can't volunteer to help with managing the social media accounts, I want to reiterate what I brought up on Discord and get the ball rolling on this topic. Because of the dumpster fire that Twitter is quickly becoming with misinformation, security concerns, system manipulation, and failing infrastructure, we might want to discuss where the KHWiki can migrate to if Twitter becomes too much to bear. Since our small talk on Discord, I've decided to make a list on the new, upcoming social media sites that many people are going to. We do have options of going to Tumblr and/or permanently settling on FB if need be, but as KSM and others pointed out, it might be a good idea to consider alternatives in the future. Judging from we've seen so far, here's the list:
'''Established Platforms'''
1.) '''Tumblr''' - No brainer since it's of the long-standing, established platforms out there. I think some of the staff also have personal accounts there (Shard, I think, has one)? Know it hasn't been very popular since the NSFW purge and has its own brand of issues, but it's still one of the most popular sites out there.
2.) '''Facebook''' - Active account for the KHWiki currently, but I know it's not a platform that a lot of us would want to go to because of numerous issues.
3.) '''Mastodon''' - Mastodon become one of the go-to spaces when the dumpster fire began, but I've heard very conflicting accounts about it on Twitter. Others say it's good, but I heard that a lot of people find it confusing/complicated to navigate and it's buggy?
'''Notable New/Upcoming Platforms'''
1.) '''[https://www.tribel.com/public/trending Tribel Social]''' - New social media platform that has, from my observation, has thrown down the gauntlet against Muskrat. Created by a progressive activist [https://twitter.com/OmarRiverosays Omar Rivero], who is also a founder of news platform called Occupy Democrats. According to Wikipedia, they apparently had a bad reputation for misinformation, though I've seen their account and all they do is report the same news as most other outlets have, though it more bombastic way? Anyway, this is one of the platforms I've heard of the most since they're heavily promoting on Twitter, and many people have to migrated to it since the dumpster fire started. Seems to be the similar in terms of format to Twitter, but as a new site, technical issues and TOS concerns have been reported. Has an website and an app available.
2.) '''[https://www.hivesocial.app/ Hive Social]''' - Next to Tribel Social, Hive is definitely a big contender as a new platform, but unfortunately, the team behind it consists of two people (?) and [https://twitter.com/rahaeli/status/1594756281650524160 there has been issues raised on its TOS] [https://techcrunch.com/2022/12/01/twitter-alternative-hive-shuts-down-its-app-to-fix-critical-security-issues/ and reports of security issues, forcing them to shut down until they get sorted out]. I think some of the staff (THS and KSM?) said they're also on Hive. Currently only have an app, with talks of them developing a website in the future. They're active on Twitter, which they're using to promote themselves.
3.) '''[https://spoutible.com/ Spoutible]''' - Upcoming social media platform created by [https://twitter.com/cbouzy CEO Christopher Bouzy of Bot Sentinel]. Very established and well-known among the progressives and tech industry, it seems. Currently operating with transparency and with large engagement with followers. Been keeping an eye on his progress on developing his platform, and has the experience to properly create/host a social media platform with proper security clearance and making sure they follow standard TOS. Expect to launch officially by late Jan. of next year.
4.) '''[https://post.news/ Post]''' - New platform currently in beta, where a lot of journalists are flocking to. Don't know much about outside from that since users who join are either accepted as beta users or stuck on a waitlist. So far, the only bad thing I heard about it people saying it's "elitist"? Don't think this would be a good alternative for us to go to, but I'm putting it out there on the basis of, again, I don't know anything the platform and keeping an open mind.
5.) '''[https://counter.social/index.html Counter Social]''' - It's a platform I've seen popped up several times, but I don't know anything about it since it's one of the new (?) platforms that aren't getting a lot of attention. They have a website and app, but you can only view it if you're signed up.
Among all of these, I've narrowed it down to Tribel, Hive, and Spoutible as the top contenders, with Spoutible being my top pick based on the transparency so far that the CEO has operated with the users' feedback and setting up the platform and their established good reputation. I'd love to hear the rest of the staff's feedback about this and go in-depth with discussion since only lightly touched upon in the Discord. We all agreed to just wait and see what happens with the new platforms, so while we're not talking about outright leaving Twitter or migrating elsewhere immediately, it's good to get the conversation going for now.}}

{{NinjaSheik|text=I think whether we stick with Twitter depends on the megalomaniac narcissist that's currently running it. If he does implement a lot of the features that's been reported so far, I don't see why anyone would want to stick around a site that's being monetized, which was once previously free for anyone to use. I don't think places like Tribel or Hive will last long if they can't assure their users' online safety or if they run out of funds to have maintain it, especially if it's true that a platform like Hive is currently run by two people. New platforms rise and fall the time, true, but even something like Twitter would never be #1 forever until the next big thing arrives on the internet.
I do agree that Tumblr is the safest bet, and I still stick what I said that Spoutible could be somewhere we we can go to. However, I also agree that we shouldn't stretch ourselves too thin. We're not a company with personnel to spare juggling between numerous social media sites, and even companies have trouble with balancing all of that. I'd say that we pick two sites and just stick with that for the time being if we would to have accounts for the KHWiki. KSM and THS said they've went on Hive and tested it out so far, so it's good to know if anyone among the staff is testing new platforms out for their personal usage for the time being. We're not abandoning ship immediately, but checking out other places couldn't hurt.
To echo what Spindash54 said on Discord, reserving the KHWiki handle name is a good idea so no one can take it from us. I did sign on for the pre-beta registration for Spoutible out of curiosity, but since I don't have an actual Twitter account, all I did was registered under my personal email. On the behalf of the KHWiki, I'm fine with putting KHWiki as my handle name under my personal email for now until we see what happens with Twitter, so we have someone who we know that is part of the staff has it. Is anyone has objections to that, and want to register under the KHWiki's social media email instead, let me know (I don't know what our email is, sooo... XD). If things with Spoutible goes well, it could benefit us with SEO rankings in the long-run. We're constantly in competition with the FANDOM's Keyhole Wiki on Twitter, too, aren't we? But if we were the first one to promote on a new social platform that's aiming for 100, 000 users from the get-go, where there's currently ZERO competition and a wide open space for KH fans and other gamers itching to gather, then... Tee-hee-hee... 😈😈😈
So, yeah, if everyone is okay with this idea, I can put the Spoutible account under my personal email while I scout out the site, if we don't want to outright register under the KHWiki's social media email. Since KSM and THS is already on Hive, might as well check out another platform for a personal test run. I'm planning to just lurk and test the waters quietly, but if any official KH news pop up, I'll post on the KHWiki's behalf if we start to consider migrating elsewhere.}}

Anyway, I've only tried Hive so far, and it's not really that great, but they will release an update soon that will fix security issues and speed up the app, so we'll have to wait for that first. If I have time, I'll check out some of the ones you posted.
As for signing up, do we have a social media email? Or do we just use the bcrat email for that?
And finally, regarding your post, KSM, as much as I love to help out with anything wiki-related, I'm terrible at social media stuff. But if you really can't find anybody, I can always give my opinion on things.}}
{{NinjaSheik|text=There were a few more social media platforms like former Twitter CEO's founder Jack Dorsey's BlueSky (currently in development) being mentioned around, but I decided against adding it to the list because of, er, obvious reasons connected to the ongoing problems on Twitter, and everything else is so minor that I didn't bother looking into it. I did very brief research into the other platforms listed above, based on what was going around on Twitter for those looking to leave, so definitely look into it deeper if you want to test out the other platforms, THS. I'm hedging my bets on Spoutible, so I'm going to give it a shot and test it out.
Lol, I don't even know since I never handle the social media accounts or the bcrat email? I vaguely remember someone sharing it with me once a long time ago, but I completely forgot. XD}}

Yeah, I'd say go ahead with the Spoutable. Couldn't hurt us if we ended up there and not use it.
We use the bcrat email for twitter, idk about dA or facebook though.}}
{{NinjaSheik|text=If it's okay to use the KHWiki's email, let me know. I can DM you about it later on, Chain, once the Spoutible platform gets closer to its beta launch. I don't want anyone else feeling pressured just to keep an eye on it if we're unsure where to go if and when Twitter combusts. Again, I can sign up using my personal email for safekeeping, and if the KHWiki chooses not go there, I can update the email later on the platform. }}

{{KeybladeSpyMaster|time=21:55, 10 December 2022 (UTC)|TRON=Huh, I usually am more aware when things get going... 😅
I definitely don't think we should close our Twitter. At least not yet. Aside from objections to how it's run, the real issue I'm concerned about is that it will become too difficult to be seen, and therefore useless to us, unless we pay up for Twitter Blue. But in the meantime, I think we're still okay to use it.
I agree that so far the experience on Hive has been... poor. It's kinda the same as the experience on Twitter from a technical standpoint (everything's kinda slow and janky, images don't load, no response in app), but without any content to sort of make up for it. Mastodon has been a kinda steep hill to climb, too, from my experience, and I don't see it taking off. Having said that, I agree that we should reserve the KHWiki handles in all these accounts, just in case, even if we never use them. Would not want one of these to take off and find we can't use the handle we want because we were "too slow" (read in Vanitas's voice).
I'll go ahead and create the Tumblr blog and Mastodon account. The Hive app is currently down, as previously mentioned, so we won't be able to do anything there for now.
Aside from TSH potentially, is anyone else interested in helping run/coordinate/discuss the content for whatever accounts we end up actively using? Currently, this would be our Facebook page and Twitter account.

{{NinjaSheik|text=Whether Twitter implodes on itself is still yet to be seen, so we just have to keep an eye on things as we're transitioning into the new year. I've been keeping up with what's being reported in regards to the inner workings, so my confidence for sticking around on it continues to decrease... >_<;
I haven't heard too much on the other platforms in the last few weeks, but I hear bits and pieces of Mastodon continue to be difficult for people to use. I'm mainly keeping up with what's going on with Spoutible and now that we're in 2023, the website is still set to launch by the end of the month. If push comes to shove, I believe that we should be fine with migrating to Spoutible since I saw somewhere that the CEO confirms we should be able to archive our Twitter account to Spoutible. I'll keep the staff updated if I hear more nears as they inch closer to their official launch date.
If we do end up moving to Spoutible, I'm okay with helping with managing the account for a little while, but I can't see myself committing to being a long-term mod on the account. I wouldn't even begin to understand how to promote the KHWiki on a social media account. ^_^;}}
Isn't Cohost the new, trendy less-asshole-ridden Twitter alternative? --[[User:Samoa Joe|Samoa Joe]] ([[User talk:Samoa Joe|talk]]) 03:45, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
{{NinjaSheik|text=I've heard of Cohost, but it's not a site I've heard too much about.
Spoutible is set to launch in two days, so just to check with everyone, we agreed to simply make an account to reserve the handle and that's it? Once the account made, we leave it alone and won't promote anything since it's acting as a back-up if Twitter combusts? I'm considering making a personal account to quietly test out the site myself, so I can keep watch over the KHWiki handle over there since I registered it under my personal email. If anyone's been following the CEO's Twitter account, the features that will be available are promising and more features will be implemented soon.}}

Hey there, hi there, ho there! So! The KHWiki's Twitter account... it's a thing! And I think it'd be a good idea to make it more of a thing, along with our Facebook page. Here's how I'd like it to work: I'm not going to be giving up the accounts' access, at least not yet. But I'd like to have more people to discuss things to post on our social channels, and then those people who help coordinate would be able to post on our social channels.

I totally meant to do this earlier when this was brought up on the Discord, but I got busy and time got away from me.

Established Platforms

1.) Tumblr - No brainer since it's of the long-standing, established platforms out there. I think some of the staff also have personal accounts there (Shard, I think, has one)? Know it hasn't been very popular since the NSFW purge and has its own brand of issues, but it's still one of the most popular sites out there.

2.) Facebook - Active account for the KHWiki currently, but I know it's not a platform that a lot of us would want to go to because of numerous issues.

3.) Mastodon - Mastodon become one of the go-to spaces when the dumpster fire began, but I've heard very conflicting accounts about it on Twitter. Others say it's good, but I heard that a lot of people find it confusing/complicated to navigate and it's buggy?

Notable New/Upcoming Platforms

1.) Tribel Social - New social media platform that has, from my observation, has thrown down the gauntlet against Muskrat. Created by a progressive activist Omar Rivero, who is also a founder of news platform called Occupy Democrats. 2.) Hive Social - Next to Tribel Social, Hive is definitely a big contender as a new platform, but unfortunately, the team behind it consists of two people (?) and there has been issues raised on its TOS and reports of security issues, forcing them to shut down until they get sorted out. I think some of the staff (THS and KSM?) said they're also on Hive. Currently only have an app, with talks of them developing a website in the future. They're active on Twitter, which they're using to promote themselves.

3.) Spoutible - Upcoming social media platform created by CEO Christopher Bouzy of Bot Sentinel.

4.) Post - New platform currently in beta, where a lot of journalists are flocking to.

5.) Counter Social - It's a platform I've seen popped up several times, but I don't know anything about it since it's one of the new (?) platforms that aren't getting a lot of attention. They have a website and app, but you can only view it if you're signed up.

Among all of these, I've narrowed it down to Tribel, Hive, and Spoutible as the top contenders, with Spoutible being my top pick based on the transparency so far that the CEO has operated with the users' feedback and setting up the platform and their established good reputation. I'd love to hear the rest of the staff's feedback about this and go in-depth with discussion since only lightly touched upon in the Discord. We all agreed to just wait and see what happens with the new platforms, so while we're not talking about outright leaving Twitter or migrating elsewhere immediately, it's good to get the conversation going for now.

And finally, regarding your post, KSM, as much as I love to help out with anything wiki-related, I'm terrible at social media stuff. But if you really can't find anybody, I can always give my opinion on things.

There were a few more social media platforms like former Twitter CEO's founder Jack Dorsey's BlueSky (currently in development) being mentioned around, but I decided against adding it to the list because of, er, obvious reasons connected to the ongoing problems on Twitter, and everything else is so minor that I didn't bother looking into it. I did very brief research into the other platforms listed above, based on what was going around on Twitter for those looking to leave, so definitely look into it deeper if you want to test out the other platforms, THS. I'm hedging my bets on Spoutible, so I'm going to give it a shot and test it out.

Lol, I don't even know since I never handle the social media accounts or the bcrat email? I vaguely remember someone sharing it with me once a long time ago, but I completely forgot. XD

Yeah, I'd say go ahead with the Spoutable. Couldn't hurt us if we ended up there and not use it.

We use the bcrat email for twitter, idk about dA or facebook though. Fire (card).png

If it's okay to use the KHWiki's email, let me know. I can DM you about it later on, Chain, once the Spoutible platform gets closer to its beta launch. I don't want anyone else feeling pressured just to keep an eye on it if we're unsure where to go if and when Twitter combusts. Again, I can sign up using my personal email for safekeeping, and if the KHWiki chooses not go there, I can update the email later on the platform.

Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png Huh, I usually am more aware when things get going...

Diamond Dust Keychain KHFM.png

Whether Twitter implodes on itself is still yet to be seen, so we just have to keep an eye on things as we're transitioning into the new year. I've been keeping up with what's being reported in regards to the inner workings, so my confidence for sticking around on it continues to decrease... >_<;

If we do end up moving to Spoutible, I'm okay with helping with managing the account for a little while, but I can't see myself committing to being a long-term mod on the account. I wouldn't even begin to understand how to promote the KHWiki on a social media account. ^_^;

Isn't Cohost the new, trendy less-asshole-ridden Twitter alternative? --Samoa Joe (talk) 03:45, 4 January 2023 (UTC)

I've heard of Cohost, but it's not a site I've heard too much about.

Spoutible is set to launch in two days, so just to check with everyone, we agreed to simply make an account to reserve the handle and that's it? Once the account made, we leave it alone and won't promote anything since it's acting as a back-up if Twitter combusts? I'm considering making a personal account to quietly test out the site myself, so I can keep watch over the KHWiki handle over there since I registered it under my personal email. If anyone's been following the CEO's Twitter account, the features that will be available are promising and more features will be implemented soon.
