Despite portraying a fictional universe consisting of planet-like Worlds that each represent a separate setting based on Disney or Kingdom Hearts-original fiction, the Kingdom Hearts series includes many references to real-world locations on Earth.

List of locations[edit]

Caribbean Sea[edit]

In Kingdom Hearts II, Port Royal, based on Port Royal, in Jamaica, is a main setting within Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

In Kingdom Hearts III, The Caribbean is an expansion to Port Royal, appending the sea and isles surrounding the port.

China[edit]

China is a country in East Asia, and is the setting for the film Mulan. The film takes place in Ancient China.

In the Kingdom Hearts series, the Land of Dragons is the homeworld of Mulan and others.[1]

London[edit]

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom, an island country in western Europe. It is one of the settings for the film Peter Pan.

In the Kingdom Hearts series, London is the home of Wendy. This is where the Clock Tower, also known as Big Ben, is located.[2]

The Big Ben is also mentioned by Merlin in Kingdom Hearts III.[3]

France[edit]

"You've come to Paris in her darkest hour, Captain. It will take a firm hand to save the weak-minded from being so easily misled."
—Frollo to Phoebus

France is a country in western Europe. Paris, France is the main setting of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, La Cité des Cloches and the Country of the Musketeers are located in France, with Notre Dame Cathedral located in the former and Mont Saint-Michel located in the latter.[4]

Greece[edit]

"Yeah, tell me about it, sister. You and the rest of Greece!"
—Phil to Aqua

Greece is a country in southeast Europe. Ancient Greece is the main setting of Hercules.

In the Kingdom Hearts series, the Olympus Coliseum is located in Greece.

Shibuya[edit]

Shibuya (渋谷区 Shibuya-ku?, lit. "Shibuya Ward") is a part of central Tokyo, Japan, famous for its fashion and nightlife, and is the setting of the game The World Ends With You.

In Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, Shibuya (シブヤ?) is the hometown of Neku, Shiki, Beat, Rhyme, and Joshua.[5] As Neku, Joshua, Beat, Rhyme, and Shiki return home, Sora promises Neku he'll visit them one day in Shibuya.

In Kingdom Hearts III, Quadratum (クァッドラトゥム?), also referred to as Shibuya (シブヤ Shibuya?), is also the main setting of Verum Rex and the home of Yozora, though this is not necessarily the same Shibuya that Neku and his friends hail from.[6] This is the world that Sora, Riku, and the Master of Masters arrive in during the game's secret ending.[7] It features locations inspired by Shibuya and neighboring Shinjuku (新宿区 Shinjuku-ku?, lit. "Shinjuku Ward"), including the famous 109 department store and Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building.

Africa[edit]

The map of Africa is shown in the Camp: Tent in Kingdom Hearts.

Africa is a continent south of Europe, and is the setting for the film Tarzan.

In Kingdom Hearts, Sora and company land in the jungles of Africa, the homeworld of Clayton, Jane, Tarzan, and the Gorillas.

Others[edit]

In San Fransokyo, in Hiro's garage a map of the United States of America can be seen.

In Radiant Garden, a map of the Earth can be seen at Merlin's house.
