Riku using High-Speed Step in Castle Oblivion.

High-Speed Step (高速ステップ Kōsoku Suteppu?) is a technique introduced in Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories. It allows the user to dodge attacks with a dash.

Mechanics

Riku using High-Speed Step in Dark Mode.

In Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, High-Speed Step is an innate movement ability that is executed by double-tapping the control pad in a direction during battle. In Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, it is executed by pressing Square and can also be used outside of battle. In combat, High-Speed Step grants invulnerability for about as long as Riku's feet are off the ground. In Dark Mode, the movement speed is increased, but no invulnerability is given.

In Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories, High-Speed Step causes Riku to dash forwards while twisting himself backwards, with Dark Mode's version leaving afterimages in its wake. In Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories it instead causes him to roll forward, with his left palm on the ground, then leap forwards, while Dark Mode's version instead resembles Quick Run from Kingdom Hearts II.
