MelodiousNature - "It's Not what you Say, that Judges you as a Person - It's What you Do." TALK - 23:07, October 10, 2009 (UTC) Many of us at the IRC channel have started to see major issues in the KH section of IRC. People have been: bullying, racist, intimidating, rude, upsetting, annoying on purpose, spamming etc. Something needs to be done. I'd like to hold a Petiton for the Admins of KH Wikia to consider applying more people as "Ops" (Operators) to work in the IRC. Most of the operators and admins that are already applied enter the IRC very rarely and for most of the day the IRC is "unguarded". On average, around 12 Hours a Day... our IRC section is petrolled, that's Half a Day! One of our main operators/administers that appear in the IRC regularly and lengthly is Hexedmagica. Hexed agrees that "we need more protection". If you agree to the petition, please add your name, below. This petition is fine and dandy, sometimes ops aren't available all the time. Another op would cover more time. But, if there aren't any ops online and there's someone being harassing or something: don't just let them do it. Copy what they said down (put it on pastebin.com or something), and tell and op when the get online. You could also leave a message on an ops talkpage on the wiki. Here are all the ops currently:

Hexed is usually on, Yermom is there and so is Gamer and I'm there on Friday and Saturday. I haven't heard/seen any major complaints about flammers, bullies, etc. the times that I've logged on. If you guys have a problem and no one's there to solve it, go to #wikia. They'll usually be there immediately. You have to think, what's the average age around here, 13-16? There will be plenty of immature insults being flung around. You can't really help it. But if Kryten and the other staff agree, be my guest. Alot of the users who signed the petition are on the IRC alot as well. Also, is the Op(s) going to be selected by voting (similar to voting for admins/mods), or will they be selected by the staff?--Xion4ever 01:19, October 13, 2009 (UTC)

If we're adding new ops I think it shouldn't be a voting thing, since well... pretty much everyone votes for their friends while completely ignoring if they are suited for the job or not. Also, I just noticed that some of the users that signed the petition are the ones who actually cause the trouble while others appear at the channel like... once a month at most, just pointing that out. True true. I also say that anyone who wants to be an OP should get the place, so as long as he or she stays true to their word. No voting, please. And yea, I've been around long enough to see who the trouble makers are and who aren't on the IRC. I haven't weighted in much here because my time in IRC can be sadly limited, and so I truly do not know the extent of what is going on. Also, I have a pretty pathetic understanding of IRC, to be truthful. But I would like to offer a couple of suggestions:

1. Admins in IRC obviously don't have to be staff here. If there is someone(s) in IRC often who you guys think would do a fair job of keeping an eye on the channel, suggest them here. I beseech you, please think carefully about this...don't pick someone because they're your friend, or they "seem" nice. Think about people on the channel who act in a responsible manner and you think would be capable of watching and handling these things. Adminning (is that a word now?) can be a pretty tough job at times. (And likewise, if you get picked and do not feel you can handle it, please let us know. We don't want to pressure you into doing something you do not want to.)

2. As we can't be there all the time, if someone is being truly harassing, threatening, etc., record it some how. Make screen caps, copy and paste the text as suggested above, or any other means you can think of. If the issue is especially serious, let the Wikia IRC staff know right away and show them what you've got; please let us know as well so we can help them take means to stop it.

In addition, I want to say as an admin I do my best to be fair and helpful, as do the other staffers around here. But I am human and I do make mistakes and have bad days and so on, again, as do the other staffers. I know we have a few folks here who do butt heads from time to time since they're very passionate about Kingdom Hearts, and want to make this wiki the best it can be. We certainly don't expect everyone to hold hands and sing happy songs of Atlantica, but if someone here feels like they are being especially singled out for poor treatment by an individual, even if they are an admin, please let someone know. I am very glad we've made a decision. I really did think this was a key issue and I'm glad that the Admins and Operators have responded. So, Thank you deeply from me.

Ok I've been on the IRC since July, so I'm going to pick a few people I've watched in my time, who are fair and neutral and who'd help out the same any other Operator would.

1. Rocker7898 - Daily User, Friendly, Considerate
2. Xion4Ever - Daily User, Controls Situations, Neutral
3. SSC - Frequent User, Mature & Helpful
4. ENX - Mature, Neutral & Unbias
5. Ghostboy3000 - Frequent User, Friendly & Caring

NOTE: A few of the IRC Users were scared you wouldn't consider them because they're not part of the IRC. I'd hope you'd consider all the IRC Users please.

These are the people I think deserve Operator privilege. Of course, I myself would love to and be honored to be an Operator and I'd hoper that the Admins/Ops will consider me too. ^.^

I have always found the IRC complicated and chaotic so I tend to be on for short periods of time. I support any efforts to improve the irc as a whole, but I don't see myself as much help. Sorry...... Terra Fae~

Nomination Discussion

It seems the "nomination" process is turning into an actual voting session. Also, I'm sure most people on here voted for their friends, others aren't/rarely found on the IRC channel to know what actually happens, and such. I have a proposition to fix that problem: Why not just create a master list contaning a list of users who would be cut out for the job? Each user would only have one "vote." Then, the admins/mods/IRC mods could choose the op/ops? This is just an idea, but I think it would fix this voting problem. We don't want to make a user an Op just because they had alot of votes from friends. We want a user/users to become an Op to help out on the IRC. Xion4ever Promise... — 23:57, October 15, 2009 (UTC)

They have no idea what kind of people are on there, or how people they know that are on there act outside the Wiki. I'd say the master list or whatever should be comprised of those and ONLY those who are on daily with a goal of "talking when necessary" that is mature and all that. So the list could include : Xion4ever MelodiousNature Myself (never saw that coming >_>) Anyone else I'm forgetting... Perhaps SSC or Rocker, as well. I'd say the max we allow is 5.

It makes more sense to have them choose since: 1) They've been around for a longer period of time than the staff here and 2) They have a better understanding of who is more "appropriate" for the job than others. Let's just hope the admins/mods see the same things. Let's set up a poll for the "lesser" IRC users to use to determine new Op's, so the admins have an outside opinion, shall we? By "lesser", I don't mean "not as good as." I mean it in the sense that we aren't Op's yet. Plus, a poll is much neater than the list MN had us put above.

SSC is there every time, literally EVERY TIME that I go there. Xion is similarly common, and seems to display traits that would make for a good OP. Still, my vote goes to SSC... regardless of my temporary banning, I'm a still a bit ticked off that no one even voted for me. I'm on the irc pretty often, and everytime some punk logs on and starts messing with my friends, I'm. The first one to defend them! I've probably done the most unsuccessful "/kick" commands of anyone on this wiki, and it wasalways to defend my friends, unlike some people who I know for a FACT abuse their power! I've also gone through themoost emotional turmoil of ANYONE (most likely) and I'm just possed that NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE! So there we are. I'm done......

TALK - 15:55, October 24, 2009 (UTC) I'm sorry you feel you were "neglected" but you must consider that: You made statements to multiple users stating you were leaving KHWiki and IRC. One example was to User_Talk:Rocker7898 which you stated: "i have to leave the wiki.... forever..... this isnt a joke, I swear..... spread the news, okay?". You followed with inactivity to both KHWikia from September 1 2009 to September 21 2009 (20 Days) and inactivity to the IRC Channel for much much longer. Our estimation is 1-2 Months. You returned with a false name: Pumpkinhead, of which people did not know. As people did not recognize you, you weren't considered a potential candidate. You returned to the IRC Channel, once every two weeks and were only on for aprox. 2 hours. The Ops that were appointed would appear every day or 5-6 times a week, which was what we required for the abuse on IRC to be "handled". Finally, during you're return you have Spammed on the IRC and wanted us to kick/ban you. Immaturity was a very essential element that we were looking out for and by doing so, you did not seem to be capable of being an Op. I truly am sorry, and I know you didn't leave purposely but... there are 4 more reasons than that one alone. Now's the time to prove us that you could become a potential Operator, next time (if needed) and this goes for everyone! Take Care and Sorry for having to reveal this to you.
