Template:Enemy Gula is a Keyblade Master who appears in Kingdom Hearts χ. As a Foreteller, he leads the Leopardos Union and is an apprentice of the Master of Masters.

Story

Before Kingdom Hearts χ

Gula is given a Keyblade forged from his own heart by the Master of Masters, who takes Gula, Aced, Ava, Invi, Ira, and Luxu as his apprentices. Gula eventually achieves the rank of Keyblade Master alongside each of his fellow apprentices.

After the Master bestows a copy of the Book of Prophecies upon Gula, he grants him leadership over the Leopardos Union as its Foreteller. As Gula and the other Foretellers read their copies of the Book of Prophecies, they are shocked by the final entry, which details an event known as the Keyblade War, during which light would expire and the world would reach its end.

When Luxu leaves to fulfill his role assigned to him by the Master, the Foretellers are shocked by his sudden disappearance. Shortly thereafter, the Master requests to meet with Gula alone in the Foretellers' Chamber. The Master of Masters rips the Lost Page from his copy of the Book of Prophecies and gives it to Gula, informing him that the Lost Page mentions a traitor among them and it is Gula's role to discern who the traitor is and stop them. From this, Gula deduces that the Master had given each of his apprentices different roles because who ever diverts from their role could be identified as the traitor. Though the Master of Masters is disappointed with the lack of impact such a revelation has on Gula, he confirms Gula's logic nonetheless. Afterwards, the Master directs Gula to act normal, stay focus, and trust no one but himself.

Gul and his fellow Foretellers are soon introduced to the Master's new creation, the Chirithy. Though the Spirit Chirithy are meant to aid Keyblade wielders in their endeavors, the Master warns them that if a wielder falls to darkness, so will their Chirithy, causing them to transform into a Nightmare. When Aced suggests that they destroy any Nightmare Chirithy they come across, Gula and Ava tease Aced for his frightening demeanor, much to Aced's embarrassment.

Without warning, the Master disappears from the world, and although the Foretellers actively seek him out, they are unable to locate him. Upholding the Master's teachings, Gula and the other Foretellers begin recruiting Keyblade wielders to each of their Unions, utilizing the powers of their copies of the Book of Prophecies in the form of Medals to aid their wielders in collecting Lux to maintain the balance of power.

Having watched the Player defeat countless Heartless throughout Daybreak Town, Gula commends the Player's abilities. Gula offers the Player advice on defeating larger Heartless, suggesting that the Player fight alongside the other Leopardus Union members and then leaving the Player to defeat a Darkside. After the Darkside is defeated, Gula reappears and warns the Player that there are others who collect light, but that not all among them share the same goal of bringing peace to the world. Guka allows the Player to discern who walks the path of darkness before he departs. Template:Canonend

The Foretellers take notice of the Keyblade wielders utilizing bangles that, when equipped, provide the power to collect dark energy. Ultimately, the Foretellers decide using the bangles was acceptable for their Union members. Not long afterwards, Ira summons the Foretellers for a meeting in the Foretellers' Chamber, declaring that there is a traitor among them after discovering a Nightmare Chirithy snooping around their home. When Gula proposes to have each of the Foretellers summon their Spirits to prove their innocence, though Invi points out that Gula's suggestion is not viable since it would be easy for any of them to summon a Chirithy that isn't a Nightmare. Unable to come up with a solution to identify the traitor, as all Chirithy look alike and there are a high quantity of Keyblade wielders each of in their Unions, the Foretellers look to Ira for guidance. As Ira believes that the bangles are the Nightmare's doing since utilizing the dark energy collected by the bangles is equivalent to wielding the power of darkness, Ira asserts that only one of the Foretellers could have obtained the bangles, so the traitor has to be one of them. After Aced condemns Ira for spreading doubt amongst them, he adjures the meeting, prompting Gula to depart from the Foretellers' Chamber.

When Neoshadows appear in Daybreak Town, the Player joins three other Keyblade wielders in their efforts to quash the darkness being spread by the new species of Heartless; however, the Player is the only survivor. After Chirithy witnesses another of his kind fade, Gula appears to speak with the Player, revealing that while the Keyblade wielders are gathering Lux at an amazing rate, the darkness is spreading even faster. With this, Chirithy asks if that means that there really is a traitor among them, to which Gula states that he is not willing to believe that yet. Template:Canonend

One night, the Player is shown a dream by Chirithy, in which Gula and the other Foretellers meet with the Master in the Foretellers' Chamber, though Nightmare Chirithy quickly puts a stop to this dream.

A few days later, Aced invites Ava and Gula to meet with him in a warehouse, where he voices his frustration against Ira's suspicions. When Aced asks his fellow Foretellers' opinions on what Ira had said, Gula admits that Ira's argument had no merit without evidence backing his claims. At Gula's behest, Aced reveals that he wants the three of them to form an alliance, despite the fact that alliances are forbidden. When Gula inquires if Aced intends on joining forces in order to confront Ira, Aced admits that such a thing would be pointless, and wishes to focus on fighting the approaching darkness while Ira is busy identifying the traitor. Gula agrees to join Aced's alliance, but specifies that it is only between them for the time being, as he doesn't want to involve the members of the Leopardus Union, while Ava declines. When Gula asks if Ira and Invi are aware of his plan, Aced admits that he did not confide in Ira, but that he had asked Invi to join them. When Invi arrives to the warehouse, Gula watches as Aced and Invi argue and accuse the other being tainted by darkness. Afterwards, Gula parts ways with his fellow Foretellers.

After the Player successfully completes the Dark Corridor Trials, Chirithy reports back to Gula , who is pleased to hear of the Player's progress, but Chirithy questions the wisdom of assigning such a dangerous mission. Gula laments that he has no choice but to hasten the Player's training, as he must strengthen their resistance to darkness as quickly as possible and obtain as many warriors as they can get on the side of light. A few months later, Invi persuaded Gula to suspend his partnership with Aced. During one of their meetings, Gula explains to Aced that their alliance is meaningless since the alleged impending darkness has yet to come and Aced hasn't rallied anyone else to his cause. When Aced starts to object, Gula accidentally slips that Invi agrees with the dissolution of their alliance. Aced realizes that Invi ordered Gula to terminate their alliance, though Gula defends that it is his choice to follow through with it. Outraged, Aced reminds Gula that the traitor hasn't been discovered yet, though Gula cites this to be the motivation for his actions as he can't trust anyone other than himself. Aced counters that Gula will not win against the darkness on his own, but an apologetic Gula remains firm in his decision and leaves.

A year later, Gula secretly observes Aced and Invi's, smiling as Invi gains the advantage. When Ava is lead by her Chirithy to the scene, Gula calls Ava and they join Invi. Given Aced's actions and deliberate defiance of the Master's orders, Invi deems him the traitor. Though Ava is hesitant, Gula summons his Keyblade and encourages Ava to do the same. Aced then launches himself into a vicious battle with his former comrades, from which he barely emerges alive.

When the Player, Chirithy, and Skuld enter the Foretellers' Chamber in search of Ephemer, they are caught by Gula. Gula divulges he caught Ephemer in Foretellers' Chamber several days before and that Ephemer's Union collects Lux for a reason that contradicts their own and had only gotten close to them in order to get information, prompting Gula to eliminate Ephemer. Although Chirithy assures Aced that will not retaliate against him, the Player decides to avenge Ephemer. The Player and Gula battle each other ferociously, and Gula emerges as the victor. As Player is cast to the ground, the façade of the Foretellers' Chamber fades away and the group find themselves in the sewers, where Ava reveals herself to have been disguised as Gula the whole time in order to test the Player and Skuld. In the aftermath, Gula looks over the Lost Page in an alleyway and recalls of the role he was given by the Master, reminding himself to trust no one but himself. From there, Gula ventures to locate Aced, finding him collapsed in one of the houses of Daybreak Town. Confronting Aced, Gula tells him about the incomplete nature of their copies of the Book of Prophecies and the contents of the Lost Page. Summoning his Keyblade, Gula reveals that the Master tasked him to find and stop the traitor, much to Aced's disbelief and rage. Unable to forgive Gula for silently standing by while the Foretellers fought each other, Aced cuts Gula down with his Keyblade. However, before he can finish Gula off, Ava arrives and begs Aced to stop. Aced consents, leaving Ava to tend to Gula on her own.

Knowing that Ira is searching for him, Ava takes Gula into hiding, though Invi quickly discovers them and reports their location to Ira, leading him to confront Ava a few days later. Frightened by the possible consequences, Ava protects Gula from Ira, who calmly retreats after Ava asserts her resolve. When she returns to Gula's side, Gula informs her about the ambiguous contents of the Lost Page, which predicts an inevitable betrayal and "the one who bears the sigil", whom he assumes was Aced. Gula commends the distraught Ava for always walking the straight and narrow path, blaming himself for basing his actions on the Lost Page. Determined to find out what the Lost Page truly means, Gula intends to summon Kingdom Hearts to force the Master's return and pleads with Ava helps him with his plan. When Ava declines, reasoning that summoning Kingdom Hearts is forbidden, Gula respects her decision and goes off on his own.

Sometime later, Gula is approached by the Player, Chirithy and Skuld. Gula notes that the three of them are not collecting Lux and deduces that are members of Ava's Dandelions. When Skuld confirms this, Gula asks if that meant that they were looking for Ava, who has been missing recently, and what they intend to do when they find her. Suspecting that they are seeking Ava to avert the upcoming Keyblade War, Gula reminds the Player, Skuld and Chirithy that they cannot change anything and only the Master of Masters can stop it. However, Gula tells them that the Master disappeared, and the missing Luxu might be the one only to know of his whereabouts. When Gula remarks on the similarities to between Skuld and Ava, Skuld realizes that Ava is searching for Luxu to find the Master.

Gula then proceeds to tell Player, Skuld and Chirithy some of the passage from the Lost Page, "The one unable to forgive this distastefulness, who thought of fate with pessimism and lost true strength... The one who will misread the truth and step into secrecy..." Skuld questions what the text on the Lost Page meant, with Gula explaining that the traitor would be the one to bring an end to the world. Gula admitted that, although they suspected someone, they weren't able to stop them. As the group mulls it over, Gula reveals that there is more, "And with that one swing, the bell that tells the end of the battle will sound... and the battle will finally begin at the destined time." Chirithy asks if it's all right for Gula to be telling them this, which Gula admits that it's not, however because the battle is unavoidable, it doesn't matter if they know as it is meaningless. Hearing the bells of the Clock Tower toll, Gula announces that it has begun. Gula advises Player, Skuld and Chirithy to leave, as each Union will likely rally their forces soon enough.

During the final confrontation in the Badlands, the Player encounters Gula after having fought either Aced or Invi, with Gula remembering them from their previous encounter. Gula notes that Player is already pretty beaten up and asks if they're okay. When Player confirms that they're fine, Gula asks if they can proceed to battle then, reminding Player that the Keyblade Graveyard is a battlefield. After the battle, Gula remarks on how tough Player is, stating that if he's going to have to put in a real effort to stop things from getting chaotic, he'll pass - suggesting that perhaps the two of them may meet again somewhere before taking his leave by jumping into the air. Appearance

Gula is a boy who hides his face under a white leopard mask. His pale yellow, hooded cloak covers a robe, shirt, and sash that are all yellowish-tan in coloration and have dark grey embroidering. Light blue tassels appear on the front of Gula's cloak.

Personality

Gula is an individual who trusts no one but himself.

Abilities

Foreteller Gula's Keyblade has a dark blue handle. Its pommel and guard resemble golden lightning bolts, and at the base of its blade is a depiction of a green-eyed leopard. This Keyblade's shaft is comprised of a golden, spiked sword and black fuller. It bears a symbol resembling Terra's mark, and its teeth are formed from a web of crystalline spikes. This weapon's Keychain is made of small electrum crystals, and its token is a talisman that has a Gazing Eye on it.

Etymology

Gula's name is derived from the word gula, which means "gluttony" in Latin and is represented by a leopard in the Ancrene Wisse.
