Story
Kingdom Hearts χ
After helping Alice shrink so she can follow the White Rabbit, the player is forced by the Cheshire Cat to see the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. Arriving in their garden, the player discovers the pair about to celebrate their unbirthday. They are excited to see the player, considering that the latter wasn't invited.
However, when the player is preparing to leave, the Hatter and the March Hare offer them to stay for a cup of tea with them. The player agrees and the two friends give him a cup that the Hatter fills with sugar. He realizes that there is more sugar for him and the Hare, and asks the player to pick up their two cups of sugar. Once back with the two cups, the Hatter tells the player that he and Hare can't take their tea without butter and jam, so the Player leaves to find some.
Back at the party, the player gives the butter and jam to the Hatter and the Hare. They are happy and start to sing, while offering a cup of tea to the Player. It was then that the pair realize they were busy celebrating their unbirthday before the player arrived. Realizing the time they lost with him, they force the player to leave their garden, before resuming their party.
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
Shortly before Data-Sora arrives in Wonderland, Alice spotted the world's Keyhole in the court of the Queen of Hearts, but was forced to flee from her soldiers, in the process stumbling upon the Unbirthday tea party hosted by the Mad Hatter and March Hare. Her memories of this event, among others, were scattered by the bugs affecting Jiminy's Journal and became Inklings.
Data-Sora finds the Inklings regarding the Mad Hatter and Unbirthday in the Tea Party Garden, and uses them alongside the others he has found to piece together Alice's memories of the Keyhole.

Origin
The Mad Hatter and March Hare first appeared in Disney's Alice in Wonderland, which was based of of the book by Lewis Carrol called Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Alice first meets the pair at a "Mad Tea Party" where they celebrate each others' unbirthday (anyday that is not a birthday). The pair later appear at the trial where they are used as witnesses to prove Alice's guilt of exposing the Queen of Hearts' heart-print bloomers. They last appear during the chase sequence following the trial where everyone from Wonderland fades away as Alice awakens from her dream.
