Origin
Cross Slash is a recurring attack in the Final Fantasy series. It is often a prominent ability in Cloud Strife's moveset, making appearances in most games in which he appears. Despite that, Cross-Slash's attack movements are actually taken from Cloud's first three attack patterns when he attacks an enemy with the Double Cut Materia that has been mastered to allow him to use 4x-cut.
In several appearances since its debut in Final Fantasy IV, the kanji for 凶 (wicked/bad luck) is visually drawn by the slashes performed. However, its appearance in Kingdom Hearts is one of the few instances where the kanji is not visually shown.
