From what I can gather, you're a soldier in the keyblade war, which takes place in the universe before the current one. People are fighting over the light in the world (lux) and by doing so are introducing darkness. We all know since KH1 (kairi's grandma tells us a story) that the world gets consumed, and the children remake it. We do our best by collecting information from those who, but even then, it's take a long time and it's a rather tedious task.
