Social Media is an increasingly important part of life in society and in spreading a message. Both the Kingdom Hearts Wiki and The Keyhole have a footprint on social media, but we need to define our position and expand it. A great example of the wiki's use of social media is the wiki's Twitter page since its reorganization last summer. In a similar manner, we need to organize our other social media networks, and expand into others.
SOCIAL MEDIA
The Kingdom Hearts Wiki
Where is the Kingdom Hearts Wiki?
- Facebook Group
- Twitter Page
- YouTube Channel
- Deviant Art Page (Shared with The Keyhole)
How can we improve the presence of the Kingdom Hearts Wiki on social media?
Facebook: Create a separate Facebook page. Change the focus of the Facebook Group to be more towards editing users, while the Facebook page could attract Kingdom Hearts fans, whether they edit the wiki or not. The Facebook page could promote posts that are published to the group.- Twitter: We're doing a pretty good job as far as our Twitter goes. Most of our daily games go on without much issue.
- YouTube: Pretty much solved if we solve the videos issue. Basically, we need a much bigger presence on YouTube. The podcast is doing pretty good at that, but with only one video a month, and none of our recent videos being game-related, the podcast isn't gonna cut it.
- Deviant Art: Does this work? How can we improve the use of this page? Perhaps tie it with Naminé's Sketchbook (Page 11) of the Magazine? Also, if we decide to do something with this, we need to update it tremendously. We haven't updated since KH3D's launch.
- Instagram: Can we use this? Kingdom Hearts has a ton of media, much of which is on the wiki. Can we use Instagram to our advantage there?
- Pinterest: Just throwing this out there, though I'm not sure how useful this would be to us.
- Google+: Also throwing this out. Could work akin to Twitter and Facebook. Apparently, this could help in Google Search Results (in which case, Facebook would be its counterpart on Bing).
- Tumblr: The Keyhole now has a Tumblr. Should the Kingdom Hearts Wiki have a Tumblr?
How can we promote these things on the wiki?
The Keyhole
Where is The Keyhole?
- Facebook Group
- Google+
- Deviant Art (Shared with the Kingdom Hearts Wiki)
- Tumblr
How can The Keyhole improve its presence on Social Media?
Facebook: Just like the Kingdom Hearts Wiki, perhaps a Facebook page in addition to the Facebook group. The group does nothing as far as social media presence because it's a closed group. I see the practicality in a group, so I think a page and a group could be useful.- Google+: Also throwing this out. Could work akin to Twitter and Facebook. Apparently, this could help in Google Search Results (in which case, Facebook would be its counterpart on Bing).
Kingdom Hearts Fanon Wiki
How can the Kingdom Hearts Fanon Wiki get on Social Media? Should we?
- Facebook: Create a Facebook Page. Advertise fan articles (per editor permission.
- Twitter: Create a Twitter Page. Advertise fan articles (per editor permission.
- Google+: Also throwing this out. Could work akin to Twitter and Facebook. Apparently, this could help in Google Search Results (in which case, Facebook would be its counterpart on Bing).
Staff and Advertisement
See Section V. Site Maintenance and Administration
- I was thinking, we could consider advertising the opportunities to staff these accounts to the public, and get people to be excited of helping handle these accounts for the wiki (eventually; we aren’t gonna give these accounts to people a day after they join).
