First of all, before I say anything, I would like to thank each and every artist for putting their time towards making a piece of fan art for Naminé's Drawoff. You all did a great job, and I never knew the wiki's community had such an artistic potential. Now, from what I have heard from users on the IRC, the drawoff was a huge success, and got the entire community involved. I would like to ask the entire community a few questions about the drawoff and future new year's celebrations on the wiki, so that we can bring you what you want and fix what you think should be fixed. Don't feel like you have to answer them all, if you can't. I ask the following questions:
- Did Naminé's Drawoff take too many/much users/time away from actual projects on the wiki, or was is it still "in-balance" with actual work being done on the wiki?
- In the event that the wiki has another new year's celebration event next year, would you want it to be another drawing competition, or something else?
- How could the drawoff be improved next year, if it was repeated?
- How was the method of choosing a winner; would a rating/rubric system have worked better?
- What were some issues that you noticed?
- What did you like about the drawoff, in particular?
- What did you not like about the drawoff, in particular?
Again, thanks to the participating artists, and all of the users who provide me with their feedback on the drawoff.

Well, I say... Since I don't do much on the Wiki, I can't answer this one about projects and users. But I'll say it took about enough time. If the drawoff could be improved, I'd say we use a rating/rubric system work better. Like discussed on the IRC, let's have one image displayed everyday so no images gets a 0/whatever score is the total. Time consuming, but works better than anyone getting a 0/total score. The apparent issue I (and the rest of us) noticed was the poll being abused.
I can't say much more about this other than I had fun drawing for the first time in a year. xD

Answer #1: No, it was still in-balance with the actual work. Answer #2: Another drawoff would be fun, but it depends on the other options. Answer #3: Not sure, it went pretty smoothly this year. Answer #4: I thought it worked pretty well. Answer #5: Didn't really notice any. Answer #6: The variety and artistic talent. Answer #7: Umm... nothing?

From a staff viewpoint: I thought you guys ran it beautifully. We were aware it was there, but it wasn't at all invasive or taking away from the Wiki focus.
A rubric might not be a bad idea for next year; I felt pretty bad for all those people who had wonderful artwork that didn't get any votes simply because the competition was tough. Another idea might be to have two votes apiece, but then you might have award more places than just first to compensate. Something to ponder, anyway.
As long as things go as smoothly as they did this year, I would have no trouble with making it a tradition.

In response to the questions :
Did Naminé's Drawoff take too many/much users/time away from actual projects on the wiki, or was is it still "in-balance" with actual work being done on the wiki?
No, I reckon that most of us were editing as always.
'In the event that the wiki has another new year's celebration event next year, would you want it to be another drawing competition, or something else?
Another drawing comp would be nice, though if we do have ideas for other events, let's not hesitate to bring them up.
How could the drawoff be improved next year, if it was repeated?
Something which doesn't spell first is first and second is naught (almost)......... ?
How was the method of choosing a winner; would a rating/rubric system have worked better?
I'm for the rubric.
What were some issues that you noticed?
The method of voting as the competition initially ran, but it was resolved. Nothing else apart from that.
What did you like about the drawoff, in particular?
Everyone stuck to the rules, it was fair play throughout (participation and voting). Definitely what we'd look for in any competition.
What did you not like about the drawoff, in particular?
Nothing really.
I think we'll persuade Namine for more... won't we ? :P

Eternal Nothingness XIII - I'm not afraid of what the darkness holds now. Even if you do wrest control of my heart from me, even if you cast me into the deepest, darkest abyss, you'll never sway me from the one cause that pushes me to keep on fighting. Whatever the cost, I'm ready to pay it. TALK - There's darkness within me... So what does that matter? I know I'm strong enough to hold it back. — 12:32, December 24, 2009 (UTC)

Well here's the run-down :
- I do not feel as if it destracted work on the Wiki. An occasional submission and occasional one only was fine.
- If we did another drawoff, I wouldn't place so many restrictions. So many of us have talents drawing other Kingdom Hearts-related things. While this is for the New Year, I don't think it's fair to limit the images submitted.
- I believe that a voting system works best, it's just a matter of keeping that system free of kinks. One vote is also too much pressure to put on another. While it hurts some to see their numbers low, a rubric possibly aiding here, it makes more sense to let the community decide rather than a few selected users.
- Issues would be how I think many users voted based on who the artist was, regardless of their comment when they voted. I also feel that we should retain the system used for Featured Media/Articles, but that also clogs the RC...
- I did not really care for the competition aspect. Many do not care for competition. Nobody wants to draw when they feel like they "have to." Then again, that's just me... Wouldn't be a "Draw-off" without it...
- What I did like was how we could see the talents of several of our Users.
