:"In-universe" just means to not write story sections that constantly say "In Kingdom Hearts they did this, In Kingdom Hearts II they did this". Tell the story as if it was real; it has nothing to do with the tone or style of the writing. For example, never ever say "during the ending credits of Kingdom Hearts II, X is seen doing Y." Say "Sometime after the defeat of Xemnas, X does Y." | |||
