==How Many Times Could a Featured User Win, if a Featured User Was So Good?==
{{Xion4ever|time=17:58, 1 May 2011 (EDT)|text=I'll get straight to the point: How many times can a person be nominated/win the award? Before I continue I want to stress that I ''do NOT have anything against any past, present, or future user who in in the position I stated above.'' I simply want to get this matter straight and acknowledged for future reference. In this month's [http://www.khwiki.net/KHWiki:Votes_for_Featured_Users#June_2011 case], we have a user nominated again for the award. No big. However, this user has already been previously nominated AND won the award [http://www.khwiki.net/KHWiki:Votes_for_Featured_Users#March_2011 months] previously. Should we create a policy for a strict limit the amount of times a person can win this award? ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twenty-second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution Yay] politics!)
I don't see much point in having the same user/group of users to be shuffled about in the nominations varying months only to win the award multiple times. Not saying they aren't great editors who deserve to be acknowledged, but it's time to give other's a chance. Are there other users who are just as good (in their own way)? Sure. Are there other users who don't have such caliber? Of course. When I say "in their own way," I don't mean they're awesome pals who don't know much about Wiki editing/writing, but know how to make talkbubbles, or they're the quiet hard worker who can write a full article on their own. I'm talking about users who have their own strong points: Lapis with his appearance article sections, Kryten/Neumannz/others for their all-around great editing, Guardian Soul/Erry/Shard of Truth/others for their image skills, etc.
Back to repeated winning users: We all know which users are noteworthy and good. Visitors to the Wiki can find such people through the past Featured Users page as well as user conversations here on the Wiki. We're supposed to show our amazing editors, right? How can we effectively "show off" if we use the same users over and over? Or, do we not have as many amazing editors as we thought? (I know this last question is a lie, I can think of multiple users who qualify as amazing).
So, I propose this: Remove/focus less on the "X user helped out during Y month and did a great job!" and instead focus on the overall work they've done. A user could be an amazing user, yet not be as active in that month. Also, I say we limit the number of times a user can be nominate/win this award. Listen, guys: We all know who the hard working and Wiki-Princess editors are.}} |
