Kingdom Hearts is the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series.
Summary
Kingdom Hearts follows the story of a young boy named Sora and his quest to find and save his friends Riku and Kairi. After his world, the Destiny Islands, is destroyed by the Heartless, Sora meets Donald Duck and Goofy, who join him in his journey. Sora wields a mysterious giant key called the Keyblade; Donald and Goofy, searching for King Mickey, were instructed to assist and travel with the holder of the blade. Over the course of the game, Sora, Donald, and Goofy travel to many worlds searching for their quarries. On the way they meet many memorable Disney characters, some more welcoming than others.
Meanwhile, a group of villains led by Maleficent have banded together to gain immeasurable knowledge. To do this, they utilize the Heartless, creatures that embody the darkness devoured from people's hearts. The Heartless, along with their evil ringleaders, stand in Sora's way and pose as the main enemies in the game.

Final Fantasy Cameos
Tidus, Wakka and Selphie all live in the Destiny Islands Wakka and Tidus Being from Final Fantasy X and Selphie from Final Fantasy VIII. Leon is also from Final Fantasy VIII (but his name is Squall Leonheart) and Cloud, Aerith, Cid, Yuffie and Sephiroth are all from Final Fantasy VII. The game also uses other Final Fantasy icons. Moogles make an appearance and provide item synthesis. Several weapons, such as Lionheart and Save the Queen, share names with other weapons from previous entries in the Final Fantasy series. The name of the raft Riku had suggested was Highwind, is a reference to the airship of Final Fantasy VII. The magic-naming system in Kingdom Hearts (ie. Cure, Cura, Curaga, etc.) is reminiscient of Final Fantasy magic. The names of various spells are the names of Gummi blocks, and various summons, weapons, bosses, and monsters are the names of Gummi ships blueprints.
