It seems there's been some misunderstanding. It seems some people think Bluer and I don't want any new staff members. Not true. We just don't think we need quite so many, even with Birth by Sleep rearing its head. If we do, than we'll add more and both eat a piece of humble pie. It's made of old newspaper. And humble. But mostly newspaper. We did have a nice long IRC chat tonight, both with each other and a few concerned parties, though, and here's the decisions we came upon: We are definitely going to add two new admins, and an undetermined number of mods. It will be at least two. But probably more. To make up for having less new admins, all mods will be granted the new "move page" ability, which will take some pressure off some of the admin duties. We will announce the new staffers in two weeks on August 23rd or thereabouts. Those of you who were nominated or discussed as potential staffers in the other staff threads should take notice of this especially. Between now and then, we'll be looking at the contributions made over that two week period. And not just mainspace edit counts, but other factors, like edit quality, interaction with other editors, handling difficult situations, swimsuit contest, helpfulness, and so on. Older contributions will also be considered, but this is your chance to really show your best self off to everyone. (If for some reason, you won't be avaliable during that two week period for a long part of it, let us know. We'll work something out to make sure you get a fair chance to show your stuff.) So...that's what's going on. Please continue to discuss politely below if you feel the need to.

LapisScarab - You accept darkness, yet choose to live in the light. So why is it that you loathe us who teeter on the edge of nothing? We who were turned away by both light and dark - never given a choice? TALK - That may be... however, what other choice might we have had? That sounds fair, though this would have been nice to mention during the full week that poll was being held. I suppose don't have any problems with this. Out of curiosity, who were the "other parties"?

Anyway, would it be possible for the administrators and bureaucrats to once again gather on the IRC in a private room to reach a consensus? That seemed to work very well last time.

I honestly don't like the ideas of admins and b-crats meeting in a secret room behind everyone else's backs to decide things. It did not work very well last time for the single reason that it caused the spreading and belief of some false information, etc. But I don't control that, so what happens happens.

Actually, I didn't have any problem at all with how it was handled last time. It was very clear that the general community was selecting candidates for the current staff to select new admins and mods from. There was no secret meeting then, but I certainly don't like it when there is one.

However, we cannot openly or blatantly say on the main channel or on the wiki things like, "Okay, so I want this user for this reason, and definitely not this user for these reasons." It just leads to users getting offended. The decision is made by staffers because that we are using our skills of judgment that come to us with our induction to the Kingdom Hearts Wiki staff. Unlike on other wikis, being a staffer often times means more than just an extra function or two. My apologies, but I would much prefer it if the staffer meeting could be held in this manner. Users selecting our candidates for our judgment to be passed onto is the easiest way to include the opinions of both the non-staffers and staffers in conjuction without having to have an open discussion.

Bluer says at 01:21, August 24, 2010 (UTC) I would like to announce that as of August 24, users with rollback now have the: Ability to rollback to previous edits; already applied. Ability to move pages without a rate limit; i.e, move an unlimited amount of pages within any time interval Ability to move pages and suppress redirects - move a page without leaving a redirect. Ability to move files and suppress redirects - renaming a file without leaving a redirect. and from now on are users of Moderator rights.
