Once the game finally begins from the long Full Motion Video you are now in control of {{Wtext|Sora|c}}, the protagonist of ''Kingdom Hearts'', first thing you need to do is walk into the light. Once that's done, three podiums will rise from the Station, one with the {{Wtext|Dream Shield|w}}, one with the {{Wtext|Dream Rod|w}} and one with the {{Wtext|Dream Sword|w}}. Each will mark your destiny on leveling up, on which [[Abilities (Kingdom Hearts)|Abilities]] you receive at a certain level, which statistic will be higher than the other (for example, the Dream Rod adds 1 Magic and leaving the Dream Shield subtracts 1 Defense) Now, you must pick one and drop one:

Once you are finished and confirm your path, the Station shatters and you land on yet another Station, you are now given the {{Wtext|Dream Sword|w}} to use. Now you must face a multitude of {{Wtext|Shadows|e}}, attack with your sword! Oh, only one? Never mind, pick up the HP orbs and read the multiple tutorial boxes that appear. They reappeared! Attack! Once you've defeated enough, one will disappear which will cause the Station to envelop in Darkness, leading you to the 3rd Station.

On the third Station you are asked to do simple tasks, first you must walk to the door. Select "Examine" and Sora will observe the door. A {{Wtext|chest|t}} appears, select "Open" and you'll be given a large crate. Attack it three times and it will drop a {{Wtext|Potion|i}}, grab it, a fragment of the door appears. Now a barrel will appear, just break it like the crate and another door fragment will appear, completing it. Interact and go through.

Now you're in a small area with {{Wtext|Wakka|c}}, {{Wtext|Tidus|c}} and {{Wtext|Selphie|c}} who will ask you questions of what your goals are in the game, these will change the pace of leveling up, you can check [[Walkthrough:Kingdom Hearts/Level Pace|Level Pace]] to see which pace you'd prefer. Once you're done, confirm your path and now you will return to the Station, '''Awakening''' where you will find your first [[Save Point]], walk into the light. {{Wtext|Shadows|e}}! Attack them and the Save Point will appear. Walk into the Save Point and the light will fly on to show a stained glass path which leads to the last Station where you will battle the {{Wtext|Darkside|b}}... walk into the light to face your fate! You get a Strength Up after the battle.

Once all Shadows are gone, the Darkside will now go to use a projectile, which is lethal at this point in the game, so avoid it at all costs!
