==Story==

Victor, Hugo, and Laverne reveals themselves to Sora while he observes Quasimodo showing off Notre Dame's bells to [[Esmeralda]]. Though they initially shock [[Sora]], they go on to explain that they are Quasimodo's best friends and that [[Claude Frollo]] keeps him locked inside the cathedral to keep people from seeing his misshapen self. They also explain going to the Feast of Fools was something Quasi had always wanted to do, but the Dream Eaters' appearance may have dashed his hopes of ever going outside again. Sora tells them that Quasi should not make his heart a prison. Paralleled to [[Riku]]'s side, they easily take out a [[Meow Wow]] in front of Riku, who offers to take care of the weaker [[Dream Eater]]s while he goes after the [[Wargoyle]]. After Frollo dies, Victor, Hugo, and Laverne, along with Sora, remind Quasimodo not to let his fear of rejection keep him locked inside the cathedral.

Outside of the main story, a statuette of Hugo is also contained inside a {{c|Water Barrel|item}}, and is seen in the introductory cutscene for the [[Water Barrel|corresponding mini-game]].

==Designs==
Victor is the tallest of the three gargoyles and by far the most refined and intelligent. He is also rather muscular, colored a blue shade of grey, and sports two large wings on his back.

Hugo is the stockiest of the three and sports two sharp horns on the top of his head pointing upwards and two tiny wings. He also appears somewhat porcine, shown by his pig-like nose and hands. He is colored a green shade of grey.

Laverne is the oldest gargoyle and the only female of the trio. She is colored reddish pink and sports two cone-like horns on her head and average-sized wings on her back. She is also a frequent resting place for pigeons, much to her dismay.

==Personalities==
All three gargoyles share a dominate trait: they are extremely loyal and supportive of Quasimodo. It is they who initially push Quasimodo to leave the bell tower and visit the outside world. As individuals, the trio differs slightly. Victor has a more reserved and intelligent demeanor, often being the voice of thought and reason in the group. Reversely, Hugo is very stubborn and brash, often jumping to action and words without much thought. Laverne serves as the mediator between the two, instead voicing her own concerns or stopping Victor and Hugo from squabbling amongst each other.

When Sora and Riku mention that they seek a door back to their world, Laverne tells them its location, and Riku identifies Laverne as one of the "Guardians".

Victor, Hugo, and Laverne first appeared in Disney's 1996 film ''The Hunchback of Notre Dame''. They are the only major characters who never appeared in Victor Hugo's original 1831 novel. Obviously, Victor and Hugo's names are a reference to the author himself, while Laverne is named after {{w|Laverne Andrews}} of {{w|The Andrews Sisters}}. In the film, Victor is voiced by the late {{w|Charles Kimbrough}}, Hugo by {{w|Jason Alexander}}, and Laverne by the late {{w|Mary Wickes}}, who died during production, with the late {{w|Jane Withers}} providing her remaining lines.

In the film, the three gargoyles serve as Quasimodo's friends and guardians during his time growing up inside the attics of Notre Dame. It is ambiguous whether or not they are truly alive, as they only come to life when alone with Quasimodo, and Frollo appears not to know about them being alive. They spend the film as comic relief, but also appear to advise Quasimodo on his relationship with [[Esmeralda]], and even when Esmeralda falls in love with [[Phoebus]] instead, they still persuade him to rebel against Frollo and help the gypsies against his tyranny. During Esmeralda's execution, they do their best to implore Quasimodo to continue fighting, but he refuses to listen, although he eventually goes through with it after hearing Frollo's hypocritical speech. During the final battle, they aid Quasimodo in tossing weapons from the balconies to stop Frollo's soldier-like thugs from getting inside the cathedral.
