:I reviewed the song, in the original Gameboy version.  The sound was closest to a poorly synthesized hand bell.  However, the sound was about an octave and a half too low, and too resonate to be a hand bell, so I would categorize that as a "tenor bell".  In the rerelease of the game, the song was modified to use true chimes, a far more prominent and appropriate sound.
