Seeing this as an opportunity, she manipulated Ariel into signing an agreement in which Ursula transformed Ariel into a human, and Ariel had three days to get Prince Eric to kiss her or otherwise Ariel will belong to Ursula. In exchange, Ursula also took Ariel's voice.
