| I don't think she has been. I think that the Maleficent seen in Coded and Re:coded was the digital Maleficent, created by the writings of Jiminy's Journal. It would explain why none of those pixelly stuff appears when she teleports, or why she seems to have turned into a complete idiot ("Data world? I care nothing for such nonsense!"). I mean, sure she has made a fool of herself before, but she's still very clever nonetheless.

| The best bet is she used the alure of the Heartless and the powers of darkness to travel between the worlds and found the most powerful people who were willing to work with her. She also probably had assistance from Xehanort's Heartless. --Hyperwre_2.0 21:55, October 12, 2010 (UTC) | | The best bet is she used the alure of the Heartless and the powers of darkness to travel between the worlds and found the most powerful people who were willing to work with her. | She sent Pete out to travel to various worlds to find the darkest people in those worlds. He would then offer them an alliance with Maleficent in exchange for the dark powers she could share with them (mainly, the control over the heartless). If they refused, he would kill them and turn them into Heartless.
| |
| That's how she ended up with a band of minions, and an army of Heartless.

| == What is Maleficent? ==
| |
| | |
| There seems to be a debate on what creature Maleficent is. She is a Somebody, we know that for sure. But what kind of Somebody is she? Is she a witch/sorceress or she a fairy? She is referred to as all of these things in the Kingdom Hearts series. The result of this debate is an Edit War on Maleficent's article going on between me and a few other members.
| |
| | |
| I personally say she is a fairy. More precisely, an evil fairy. She is Disney's version of the Evil Fairy Godmother from Charles Perrault's original story, half of which the Disney version is based on. In the original story, all the fairies were sisters, so presumably, Flora, Fauna, Merryweather and Maleficent are all sisters.
| |
| I'm sure I'm right.
| |
| | |
| What do you think?

| :According to the journal:
| |
| :*KHI: "A sorceress of awesome power"
| |
| :*KHII: "A sorceress of frightening power"
| |
| :*BbS: "A terrifying evil fairy with a command of dark magic"
| |
| :*CoM: "A witch who commands the darkness"
| |
| :I think the general consensus is witch/sorceress, since only BbS classes her as a fairy (disregarding the movie).
| |
| | |
| Yeah, I see what you mean. I think the article should call her a fairy, considering that's what Disney refer to her as.

| Why wouldn't they all be true? And as long as they are, it doesn't matter which description is used at any given point. -- 20:40, December 30, 2010 (UTC)

| | |
| Yes, and since they all work, for consistency we should go with the majority (sorceress), especially since we usually do not count the Disney movies as canon, so that does nothing to add to the fairy side of the argument. The Inexistentsig 20:53, December 30, 2010 (UTC)

| | |
| Yeah, I guess so.

|
| |
| | |
| Hmmm...
| |
| Well, so far there is a tie in the "majority vote" opinion. Re:coded says "fairy" now. That's 2 for "Sorceress", 2 for "Fairy", and 1 for "Witch". The article currently says "fairy sorceress", which is pretty appropriate if we are going with a Majority vote. ETHAN1994 18:07, January 31, 2011 (UTC)

| :"But by using her last bit of evil power, she was able to come back again some time later."
| |
| :Merryweather: Haven't we seen this somewhere before?
| |
| :Fauna: Yes, dear. I wonder whose it was...
| |
| :Merryweather: Oh, Malefi---
| |
| :Flora: No! We mustn't remember her name! Oh dear...
| |
| :Merryweather: She was a mean ol' witch! Oh no! The memories are coming back! What'll we go!? Oooh---what'll we do!?
| |
| ::The implication of that scene is pretty clear that something bad will happen if the fairies remember Maleficent's name, and they rush to inform Yen Sid that they have inadvertently remembered her name. Maleficent is immediately shown resurrecting. According to the reports, she used her evil magic to revive herself, so it seems pretty clear that she did some kind of Voldemort-style magic, imbuing her own name with the magic power to revive her. 00:18, 2 May 2017 (UTC)
| |
| :::However, Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Pete happily say her name with no ill effect before that, so it seems to be limited to the fairies, or maybe magical beings in general. 00:21, 2 May 2017 (UTC)

| | |
| However, Maleficent uses her dragon form to swiftly kill Hoder, Heimdall, Helgi, and Sigrun, with Hoder's brother Baldr bearing witness.
| |
| | |
| I haven't played/watched Dark Road, but on Baldr's page it says it might have actually been his darkness that killed them instead. Should this be corrected? -- mikoto 05:43, 18 March 2023 (UTC)
| |
| :I also haven't kept up with DR, so this needs to be double-checked.-- 01:46, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
| |
| | |
| ::Baldr (possessed by his darkness): "Hoder? Oh, no. In fact, I'm the one who got rid of her. Hoder, Heimdall, Helgi, Sigrun... The younger ones, Bragi, Urd, and Hermod were especially easy."
| |
| ::The cutscene ("The True Story") then goes on to show the darkness striking Hoder down while Baldr watches, and then the possessed Baldr killing everyone else. So I think it's safe to say that Maleficent isn't the one who finished them off. —Aid1043 (talk) 02:40, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
