but yes, it is correct to say that "I.5" is a stylization and that it's not what people should be using due to square enix specifically using "1.5" in print everywhere; the katakana aid is irrelevant aside from being the katakana aid. blah blah dumb marketing blah blah inconsistent with everything blah blah.
