Ok, after playing through Kingdom Hearts 358/2 days, and seeing a few things about Riku, I JUST had to ask.
Do you suppose Tetsuya Nomura put a few elements of Solid Snake from Hideo Kojima into Riku to make him look awesome? If your wondering why I ask this, here are 3 major things that made me think he had elements from the Metal Gear Series:
-Both Solid Snake and Riku wear the same color bandanas. However, Riku uses his as a blindfold for his eyes, while snake's is merely for decoration.
-Both Riku and Solid Snake seem to excel at unarmed combat, with Riku being able to easily disable Zion in the back and being able to evade most, but not all of, Roxas's blows.
-Riku's face has similar elements to the facemask Big Boss has in Metal Gear Solid 3, where the mask is supposed to be an intimidation of Major Raikov.
I had to ask after noticing these three things right off the bat. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Tetsuya Nomura was inspired by Hideo Kojima to put in these elements. Both are based in Japan, and both make pretty popular video games for the Playstation Console series, so who knows? While I haven't played the Metal Gear series as much as I play Kingdom Hearts, I do play and read up about the Metal Gear Series enough to understand gameplay and the plot.
So, would you agree/disagree on the similarities that Riku has from Solid Snake/Big Boss? Or agree/disagree that Tetsuya Nomura and Hideo Kojima have both crossed paths before and got inspirations from each other? Notice any other similarities that Riku has from the Metal Gear Solid Series? Post away and let us hear what you have to say about this!--Pkthis 23:35, December 7, 2009 (UTC)
