Bright materials contain the essence of vitality, and are colored green. In Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days they are used as normal synthesis items, while in Kingdom Hearts II they are "modifier" materials that can be added to a recipe of the same rank to double the experience that it will give to the Moogle, and are usable once the Moogle reaches level 2, Novice Moogle. In Kingdom Hearts II, once all Bright materials are obtained the Moogle will reward Sora with a Defense Boost.

Soothing, also called Bright, is a material type introduced in Kingdom Hearts. Bright materials contain the essence of vitality or brightness.

In Kingdom Hearts II and Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory, they are "modifier" materials that can be added to a recipe to double the experience that the moogle will earn, and are usable once the moogle reaches level 2.

In Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Soothing materials can be used during Command Meld to attach HP-related abilities.

In Kingdom Hearts II, once all Bright materials are obtained, the moogle will reward Sora with a Defense Boost.

Design
Design
Soothing materials are colored dark green, and contain light green bubbles. A Soothing Shard is a smooth, vaguely triangular jewel with two large prongs on its top and two small, slightly curved spikes on its sides. A Soothing Stone consists of a smooth, vaguely triangular jewel with three spikes on its top, with a large crescent-shaped attachment on the left, and a smaller crescent-shaped jewel on the right. A Soothing Gem consists of a smooth, vaguely triangular jewel with a short spike on its top, with two intersecting crescent-shaped attachments at the bottom. A Soothing Crystal consists of a center that is composed of three oval shapes fused together, with a large curving spike and smaller crescent-shaped attachment on three sides.
Bright materials are represented by Bright Shard is represented by green jewels with light green particles resembling bubbles in them. In Kingdom Hearts II, they have a Modifier material structure, while in Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days they are emblazoned on panels and have an Elemental material structure.

"Bright" refers to the essence of brightness the material contains. "Damp" may refer to the bubbles contained in the material.
"Bright" means "luminous" or "colorful", and is similar in meaning to "shining". The bubbles in the material may be a reference to its original Japanese name, "Moist".
