is a gameplay mode that appears in Kingdom Hearts coded and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, during segments of Traverse Town and Hollow Bastion Part II.

Story
There are two side-scrolling segments available in Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, the first segment in Traverse Town and the second in Hollow Bastion II. While in a side-scrolling stage, gameplay is changed significantly because of energy spikes in Keyholes.
Kingdom Hearts Re:coded
With the help of Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Data-Sora manages to find and enter Traverse Town's Keyhole, seeking to destroy the source of the world's bugs. An energy spike limits Data-Sora's abilities, forcing him into a side-scrolling area. Data-Sora eventually manages to destroy the Guard Armor, the source of the bugs and energy spike.

Later, when Maleficent attempts to trap Data-Sora within Data-Riku's personal datascape, Data-Sora is forced to evacuate back to Hollow Bastion through a side-scrolling area, at the end of which he finds and defeats Maleficent in dragon form.
Gameplay
In side-scrolling stages, the camera becomes a 2D, side perspective. Data-Sora can't stop to stay in one place for long as the screen is constantly moving ahead, automatically pushing Data-Sora forward if he is lagging behind. This also means that if Data-Sora can't go too quickly, ahead of the screen however he can go above. In some cases, the screen may stay still, requiring Data-Sora to defeat certain enemies or go a particular place to continue.

Side-scrolling segments are split up into stages which follow on from another. The map shows how much further is left to go until Data-Sora reaches the next stage.

Bug Blox block Data-Sora's path and occasionally Blox fall from above, damaging Data-Sora if he is hit. Pits are also present and when falling into a pit, Data-Sora takes an amount of damage before re-spawning. The same thing happens if Data-Sora is trapped behind, crushed between Blox and the moving screen. Enemies also appear.

Gameplay
Data-Sora can only run, jump, glide, block, dodge roll and attack. Deck commands are disabled and are replaced with overlay commands which can be obtained by collecting diamond-shaped power-ups that are placed in certain areas. The following overlay commands are available:
Side-scrolling stages are viewed from a 2D, side perspective and are split up into several stages. The map indicates how far away the next stage is. Data-Sora can only run, jump, glide, block, dodge roll and attack with the Keyblade. Deck commands are disabled and are replaced with overlay commands, which are obtained by picking up the diamond-shaped power-ups peppered throughout each stage.

Bug Blox block Data-Sora's path, and occasionally Blox fall from above. If he falls into a pit, Data-Sora takes damage and then respawns after a few seconds. Heartless also appear throughout the area.

In Traverse Town's side-scrolling sequence, the screen is constantly scrolling forward, pushing Data-Sora ahead if he lags behind and restricting him from going too far. Data-Sora can be crushed between a block and the moving screen, dealing damage and causing him to respawn. At some points, the screen will stay still, requiring Data-Sora to defeat certain enemies or go a particular place in order to continue.

In Hollow Bastion Part II, the screen follows Data-Sora; however, there is a time limit to complete the stage. In addition, Bug Blox are replaced by colored boxes. Yellow boxes are the equivalent of regular Blox and red boxes are substitutes to Danger Blox. Blue boxes are unique, in that they summon moving platforms of unbreakable blocks when broken.
Hollow Bastion II
Game:Maleficent (Dragon)
Side-scrolling in Hollow Bastion II, is different than in Traverse Town. The screen does not continuously move ahead but instead it follows Data-Sora like normal. Blox are replaced with coloured boxes <!--What are those called?!-->. Yellow boxes act the same as normal Blox, red boxes act the same as Danger Blox and breaking blue boxes interact with the terrain. Also there is a set time limit to complete the stage.
