Goofy's Shields tend to come in various sizes. Smaller shields are generally stronger, but are harder to block with, while larger Shields can block more attacks, but have less power.

Goofy is the captain of the Royal Knights at [[Disney Castle]] but he dislikes violence so he uses a shield as a weapon. There are many shields that Goofy can use throughout the ''Kingdom Hearts'' series. There are three different types of shields "Attacking", "Mixed", and "Defensive": 


Vexen's Shields tend to take the name of a glacial period or of a scientific description or term. His signature weapon is called [[Frozen Pride]]. In ''[[Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix]]'', his Shield has its own HP gauge.
* Shields for attacking are smaller, have a faster attack speed and do greater damage. Example: Gigas Fist.
* Defensive shields have higher power upgrades, and are larger. Example: Chain Gear.
* Mixed Shields have more evenly distributed upgrades for defense and attack. Example: Herc's Shield.


In ''{{c|Kingdom Hearts|game}}'', [[Sora]] can wield the [[Dream Shield]] in his [[Dive to the Heart]], and in ''[[Kingdom Hearts III]]'', he can [[Formchange]] the [[Hero's Origin]] and [[Grand Chef]] [[Keyblade]]s into [[Counter Shield]] and {{c|Frying Pan|Formchange}}, respectively.
Shields bought from Item Shops don't have any special abilities. However, in ''[[Kingdom Hearts II]]'', Shields dropped by certain enemies will give Goofy special abilities. For instance, the [[Nobody Guard]] shield (obtained occasionally by defeating [[Gambler]]s) will grant Goofy the [[Hyper Healing]] ability. This is useful if the Ability points are needed for something else.

Vexen is another character who favors the shield in the ''Kingdom Hearts'' series.
 
In ''Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories'' and ''Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix'', he only has his one shield: [[Frozen Pride]]. In ''[[Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days]]'', Vexen becomes a playable character, so he can now wield several more shields.  All of his shields have to do with Ice, his element.
