In the beginning of the film, Sally, who has become resentful of her creator's, Dr. Finklestein's, over-protectiveness, tries to leave his laboratory. However, Dr. Finlestein catches her and attempts to bring her back, but Sally hides in a graveyard, leaving one of her arms behind with him. There, she overhears Jack's sorrowfully singing about his weariness of his life, and comes to realize her romantic feelings for him. Though she returns to her creator's laboratory afterwards, she once again sneaks out to attend a town meeting Jack has called after slipping a neurotic known as nightshade into Dr. Finklestein's soup. Sally is fascinated by the things Jack brought back from Christmas Town, she feels rather anxious about his plans to take over Christmas as Santa Claus. | ||
As punishment for what she did, Dr. Finklestein locks Sally in her room upon her return home. Trapped, she decides to make a gift basket for Jack. After escaping her imprisonment by throwing herself out of the tower (and patching herself together again), she goes to Jack to deliver the basket to him, but scurries off before Jack could thank her. Sometime later on, when Sally had an ominous premonition about the destruction of Christmas, she becomes determined to convince Jack that his plans are a mistake to no avail, and was even asked by Jack to sew a Santa Claus costume for him. Despite being distraught, Sally complies and crafts the suit for him. After Sally witnessed Lock, Shock, and Barrel arrive with Santa Claus and Jack takes his hat from him, Sally attempts to ruin Jack's plan by pouring a jar of nightshade into the fountain to create a heavy fog in an act of desperation to stop Jack. However, Jack's pet dog Zero reveals his glowing nose which Jack immediately uses to guide his sleigh, forcing Sally to watch in horror and sadness as Jack takes off. | As punishment for what she did, Dr. Finklestein locks Sally in her room upon her return home.
