The Pot Scorpion only appears as a special encounter at the [[Palace Gates]], where it is hiding among an array of twelve pots. To increase the chances of receiving its unique drop, the [[Mythril Stone]], Sora will need to break as many of the empty pots as possible before awakening the Pot Scorpion. The empty pots can be identified by attempting to push them; empty pots will be movable, and will drop [[munny]] and increasing Tech point awards when shattered. The final pot (excluding the Pot Scorpion itself) will award 100 Tech and has a chance to drop a Mythril Stone. The Pot Scorpion lies within the pot that cannot be moved, which should be struck once the other eleven pots are broken in order to begin the battle. It is important to position Sora so that his Keyblade does not touch any of the other pots, lest he hit the one the Pot Scorpion resides in. An efficient strategy to find the Pot Scorpion is to nudge one of the pots and, if it moves, use [[fire]] magic at close range, as this will minimize the risk of accidentally hitting the Pot Scorpion.

The Pot Scorpion is invulnerable to damage until its attacks are blocked, flipping it onto its back. It can be flipped by blocking either its charge attack, telegraphed by snapping its pincers, or its stinger attack, telegraphed by it dipping said stinger inside its pot body to lace it with poison (as the stinger glows light-pink/purple and is done when at around half or below half HP).
The Pot Scorpion is invulnerable to damage until its attacks are blocked, flipping it onto its back. It can be flipped by blocking either its charge attack, telegraphed by snapping its pincers, or its stinger attack, telegraphed by it glowing pink. Even though it telegraphs its moves, it can immediately attack Sora if he attacks it when it is not spewing poison, making it easier to block. The same goes for when it is charged up, but Sora only has to stay close to it for it to melee attack him. It moves swiftly after telegraphing, so [[Guard]] should be used while it is still readying to attack; alternatively, [[Aeroga]] can be used as a persistent shield so that timing is not an issue. Once it is flipped on its back, there is time for Sora to land one or two Keyblade combos on it.

Even though it telegraphs its moves, it can immediately decide to directly attack Sora if if struck by Sora when it is not spewing poison, rattling it in place beforehand if done right.
The Pot Scorpion also launches globs of poison around the arena, both in small volleys and in one long stream that rains down across the arena. These globs will damage and stun the party if stumbled into, which can cause fatal delays reaching the Pot Scorpion in time to damage it while it is still stunned.

It moves swiftly after telegraphing, so [[Guard]] should be used while it is still readying to attack; alternatively, [[Aeroga]] can be used as a persistent shield so that timing is not an issue (even though Sora will not gain any Tech Points this way). Once it is flipped on its back, there is time for Sora to land one or two Keyblade combos on it.

The Pot Scorpion also launches globs of poison around the arena, both in small volleys and in one long stream that rains down across the arena. These globs will damage and stun the party if stumbled into, which can cause fatal delays reaching the Pot Scorpion in time to damage it while it is still stunned. Rattling it as aforementioned also causes it to automatically spew poison globs.

When the Pot Scorpion reaches low-enough HP, it'll automatically dip its stinger inside its body to lace it with poison, and ignore any attempts to rattle it as it rushes to the center of the area. From there, it'll charge up to unleash the aforementioned long stream of glob rain. The globs can be hit (or blocked with a long-enough Keyblade) when Sora is up-close to the Pot Scorpion to cut down the amount of globs raining down as they're already blocked (but jumping into the stream above the Scorpion inflicts damage to Sora), though the said globs as they rain down can be deflected normally; the Pot Scorpion then returns to normal attacking behavior with its stinger. This desperation move makes it hard to find space to wail away at the Heartless as the poison globs are much larger than the usual ones during the said move.

If trying to kill the Pot Scorpion quickly, be sure to wield a Keyblade with plenty of Strength, have enough MP and be sure to already have gained the [[Ars Arcanum]] ability. For the first time you knock it over, you can let loose Ars Arcanum when you get close enough (preferably by rushing over with Dodge Roll) without using the followup inputs (Bash-to-Finish) as the HP threshold will automatically reach half, preventing the Pot Scorpion from taking any further damage and making it get back up on its own automatically. At this point, it's within range of having another Ars Arcanum finish it off fully for the next time it gets knocked over, all while avoiding the poison glob rain phase entirely.

However, if trying to bypass the said glob rain phase with usage of Ars Arcanum, then do not cast Aerora/Aeroga on anyone. This would likely increase the hit count by too much with inconsistently-registered DPS, thus making the Pot Scorpion flip back upright too soon during its vulnerable phases. Be also wary of having equipped either Sonic Blade or Strike Raid as their damage outputs are not enough if you accidentally perform those abilities instead, so it's wise to either not have those equipped or try and Dodge Roll towards the Pot Scorpion as soon as possible once you flip it over. Donald, Goofy and/or Aladdin's AI may also cause them to attack the flipped-over Pot Scorpion as well which can mess up your DPS in the same vein, so be wary of that as well if you can't properly defeat it in 2 vulnerability states.
