In the first film, after superheroes are banned following lawsuits involving property damage, Helen marries Bob and has three children together. However, Bob slips away from the family to relive his glory days as Mr. Incredible, leading Helen to follow him and eventually help him stop the supervillain Syndrome.
 
Helen's "Elastigirl" alias is similar to the {{w|DC Comics}} superhero {{w|Elasti-Girl|Rita Farr/Elasti-Girl}}, who is trademarked by {{w|Warner Bros.}} and created 40 years prior to the development and release of ''The Incredibles''. Because of this, outside of the film, Helen is referred to as Mrs. Incredible in auxiliary material, including ''Kingdom Hearts Union χ''.
