It generally follows the events from ''[[Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories]]''. It was first published in Japan in 2005, and later translated to English by Tokyopop in 2006.


In 2013, the manga was translated to English again by Yen Press, combining the two volumes into one.
The '''''Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories''''' manga is the second series of the ''Kingdom Hearts'' manga. It was based on ''[[Kingdom Hearts Chain of Memories]]'', although having a much lighter tone. The series was first released in Japan in October 2005. The series had an English release in October 2006, concluding in February 2007. The first English release consisted of two volumes and was translated by {{w|TOKYOPOP}}. The series was re-released by {{w|Yen Press}} in the Summer of 2013, now compiled into a single volume.

The first volume's cover, including the single Yen Press release, features Sora with the [[Kingdom Key|Keyblade]], Donald, and Goofy. The second volume's cover, exclusive to the Tokyopop release, features a Soul Eater wielding Riku standing next to Naminé, who is holding a Paopu Fruit.

:Our hero Sora lives peacefully on Destiny Islands with his best friends, Riku and Kairi, until one night disaster struck his world, and the three were separated, whisked away to faraway worlds. Sora looked for Riku and Kairi in the unfamiliar Traverse Town, but with no clues to finding them, his search was in vain. Then he met Donald and Goofy, who were searching for their missing king, and together, they set off on a quest.

*Genie played along in granting wishes (which logically ended up as just one, by making him sultan of Agrabah) for Jafar, especially tricking him into turning into a Genie himself.
:A mysterious group clad in black cloaks. They seem to be investigating the secrets of the heart.
*Before Sora fights Marluxia, he uses thorns to hold Naminé in a similar fashion to being crucified. Donald and Goofy save and heal her from this painful method of imprisonment. It is shown that this seems to have left her unconscious.

*Donald and Goofy are unable to participate in the final battle due to being restrained by giant Venus flytraps.
:[No. 4] Has the most seniority of all the Organization members at [[Castle Oblivion]]. And yet the treatment he receives is...
*[[Tidus]], [[Selphie]] and [[Wakka]] did not appear again because they didn't appear in the manga adaption of the first ''Kingdom Hearts''.

*Small TV's were shown in Naminé's room. The TV brand name was Nomura, the last name of ''Kingdom Hearts'' creator Tetsuya Nomura. Marluxia is also seen eating Nomura-brand chicken, and Axel's remote viewer is also Nomura brand.

*Rather than the Destiny Islands card being transformed into the Riku Replica's fake good luck charm, Axel gives the card to Sora right after he kills Vexen in the Twilight Town floor.

*Donald doesn't say "[[thunder]]" when he has forgotten his [[magic]], instead, he says things like "Sand-wich?".
*Goofy sleep-talks about ordering fast-food when Sora is visited by Marluxia.
*Cid is shown to make a special "Bellyful Stew" where he dumps everything from the fridge into the pot. Yuffie finds that her cheesecake is gone, then Cid reveals that he used it for the secret ingredient of the stew. This ends with Yuffie chasing Cid and throwing shurikens at him.
*Sora relearns combat from [[Merlin]] and Leon, as opposed to Marluxia and Leon.
*When exiting the Traverse Town, Aerith tries to stop Sora and co. from leaving the floor. Due to her being a fragment of Sora's memories, when she goes through the exit door it only leads off a roof in Traverse Town, not Castle Oblivion.
