At the [[Mysterious Tower]], [[Yen Sid]] gives Sora the Dream Heartbinder. Yen Sid explains that the Heartbinder enhances Sora's natural gift for connecting with others.

In the [[Toy Box]], [[Young Xehanort]] traps Sora into a demo of the video game [[Verum Rex: Beat of Lead]]. After Sora beats it, he returns to the real world with the Pixel Heartbinder.

When [[Randall]] and his legion of [[Unversed]] wreak havoc upon [[Monstropolis]], Sora and his allies neutralises monsters and hazards in the factory. After fires in the [[Tank Yard]] are put out, Sora receives the Pride Heartbinder.

At [[the Caribbean]], Sora and company run into a chest containing the Ocean Heartbinder, protected by the [[Lightning Angler]]. Following the Lightning Angler's defeat, Sora obtains the Ocean Heartbinder. 

In [[San Fransokyo]], Sora's movements are tracked by the [[AR Device]] to assist [[Big Hero 6]]'s training. When Sora completes the first course of a [[Flash Tracer|virtual simulation]] designed by [[Hiro Hamada]], he is given the Ohana Heartbinder.
