Episode 12: Helping Hand is the twelfth chapter in the Kingdom Hearts manga.

The front page shows Alice having a tea party with the Mad Hatter and March Hare, and the Dormouse (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland), while Sora, Donald, and Goofy are trapped in a painting. The back page shows Cid's goggles, with a tag saying "Number One".
Synopsis
The Queen is in an uproar of the sudden disappearance. She dismisses all of her Card Soldiers to search for Alice. She also orders Donald, Goofy, and Sora to be beheaded. The trio flees, starting their own separate search for Alice.

Story
The group debates on what really happened to Alice. They speculate that she has been taken by the Heartless...or someone manipulating the Heartless. Suddenly, the Cheshire Cat appears, asking if the group is searching for Alice. Sora confirms, asking if the cat has seen her. He says no, instead claiming to know where the shadow is. The Cheshire Cat rambles on, ending with a question for the group: "Did you know that when you turn on the light, a shadow is made?" A giant Heartless then appears. The group claims the cat has tricked them. The Cheshire Cat says otherwise, claiming he is only there to help the weak. Seeing the group suffer against the Heartless's flaming attacks, the Cheshire Cat teaches Sora his first magic attack: blizzard.
The Queen of Hearts angrily commands the Playing Cards to seize anyone. Sora, Donald, and Goofy quickly leave. When considering what happened to Alice, Donald suggests something evil may be controlling the Heartless. Suddenly, they encounter the Cheshire Cat again, who claims to know where the shadow is. He leads them back to the room with the Doorknob, where the Trickmaster appears. The Trickmaster sets the three on fire with its flaming clubs, but the Cheshire Cat gives Sora access to Blizzard magic to put out the fire.
