In the film, Dumbo is originally named "Jumbo Jr." by his mother, Mrs. Jumbo, but ridiculed by everyone for his abnormally big ears. After his mother is locked away after attacking some boys who were bullying her son, Dumbo is befriended by Timothy Mouse, who becomes determined to make Dumbo happy again after the other elephants abandon him. With Timothy's help, Dumbo eventually discovers his ability to fly with his ears and becomes a superstar at the circus. He is reunited with his mother at the end.
