| The lower half of Despair is wide and sports a thin gap shaped like an upside-down diamond. There is a rectangular bump halfway up the blade, and the tip of the blade fans outward. This model of Ethereal Blade is black and glows red.

| Despair's attack combos extend the weapon's length for every slash and thrust. The ground combo consists of a rightward slash across Xemnas's front with his right hand, a spinning slash with both hands, and a very long thrust forward with his left hand. The thrust has a knock-back effect.
