Story
Synopsis
As Lexaeus fades away, Riku learns of Sora's presence in the castle. Donald worries about forgetting why they came to the castle, but Sora assures him they'll find what they came for. As Riku climbs the castle's floors, he runs into Ansem, Seeker of Darkness again, who tries to make him open his heart to the darkness. Zexion vists the floor where Lexaeus was defeated, realizing he has no choice but to make Riku join him. At the top of the castle, Marluxia tells Naminé to completely erase Sora's memories. Just then, Axel appears and prepares to fight Marluxia. The two fight until Sora intervenes. Sora recognizes Marluxia's voice as the figure in the black coat who lured him to the castle. Axel continues to attack Marluxia, who uses Naminé as a shield. Axel doesn't care and attacks, which Marluxia uses to turn Sora against Axel.
Sora, Donald, and Goofy begin to plan their strategy on defeating Marluxia. Donald worries if the group is unable to have their memories restored. He comments, revealing he is unable to remember who they are supposed to be looking for.

Worlds and characters
In the basement levels, Riku continues progressing up the floors. Eventually he finds Ansem, who is disappointed to see the gift he previously gave Riku unused. Also in the basement levels is Zexion, who finds the keychain Lexaeus used to have. Fearing his own elimination, Zexion resolves to persuade Riku to join him.

Volumes
Marluxia has captured Naminé, now ordering her to erase Sora's memory completely. Axel interrupts, instantly starting to fight Marluxia. Sora later arrives, successfully separating the two. Temporarily stopping the battle, Marluxia reveals himself as the mysterious figure who first led Sora to Castle Oblivion. Axel resumes the fight. Marluxia grabs Naminé, using her as a human shield. Axel smirks, stating hiding behind Naminé won't save him. Marluxia warps away from Axel, asking Sora which enemy to deal with first: him, or Axel.
