::Also agree we should go by release order. The constant back and forth between KH2 and KH2FM as pointed out on Axel and Xigbar's pages are a nuisance, and not very helpful for visitors in my opinion. Many other pages have similar examples IIRC. I also agree that not every single quote should be on a quote page, but that narrowing down what is noteworthy - as pointed out - can at times be difficult. But as you said, certain quotes are so obviously not needed that I think we can perfectly fine start removing some of those. - {{User:JTD95/Signature}} 21:15, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

:::I would support changing quotes to be by release order. Some characters keep going back and forth between each game, which looks awkward. Also: for the ''coded'' quotes, are those fan translations of the Japanese? As far as I know that game didn't have a translation. I added ''Re:coded'' quotes to some characters, but they also had ''coded'' sections. For other games like ''Chain of Memories'' and ''Re:Chain of Memories,'' I'm fine with keeping separate entries, but if others would rather remove them, that's OK too. —Giantgold 5:20 8 June 2023 (UTC).

What is the wiki's goal for the Quotes namespace? As it stands, and the Quotes pages are made with one of two answers in mind, which the MoS doesn't clarify. The first, currently more widespread answer is that Quotes should be a list of all of a character's quotes. The other idea is that Quotes should not be comprehensive and instead only encompass the meaningful or important quotes.

Personally, I see no reason why a Quotes page should list everything a character says. After all, there's a reason the wiki doesn't include a transcript of every cutscene. If someone comes looking for quotes said by Sora, they're looking for "My friends are my power!" and suchlike, not "Huh? What's that?", "Go on. Show them who's boss.", and "Jasmine, run!" (all real quotes currently on Quotes:Sora).

As such, I'm in favor of severely trimming the Quotes pages to only include important quotes. While we could debate what qualifies as "important", I think removing all of the filler is an easy minimum requirement for these pages. (This doesn't include action quotes; I have no issues with how they're handled now.)

As an ancillary question, should quotes be ordered by game order or in-universe chronological order? While I am slightly partial to game release order, mostly for ease of navigation, I also see why chronological order makes sense in this context (discounting pages like Quotes:Xigbar, which need fixing no matter what direction the namespace takes).

Any thoughts or ideas? —Aid1043 (talk) 19:19, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

I agree the Quotes pages don't need every single quote. But it could be hard to determine what can be considered noteworthy or not. I do think this should apply to action quotes as well. I mean "Donald", when supporting Donald or "Fire", when casting Fire aren't really that noteworthy.
As for ordering, I say we stick to release order. While chronological order could be useful, it also creates a bit of a mess on pages like Quotes:Axel. TheSilentHero 20:25, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
Also agree we should go by release order. The constant back and forth between KH2 and KH2FM as pointed out on Axel and Xigbar's pages are a nuisance, and not very helpful for visitors in my opinion.
