The Metamorphosis (メタモフォシス, Metamofoshisu) is an alien-like Unversed that appears in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, serving as a boss battle for Ventus.

Story

The Metamorphosis appears in Deep Space, attacking Ventus as he travels in-between worlds. It escapes from Ventus, and sneaks aboard the Grand Councilwoman's massive spaceship, Ventus giving chase. The Metamorphosis causes the ship's engine to go out of control, and in response, Ventus confronts it in battle and defeats it with the assistance of Experiment 626.

Design

The Metamorphosis is a large, jellyfish-like creature with pale, light blue skin. It has a sleek body with three large tentacles that have arrowhead-shaped tips. Its lower body ends in a twisted, black tail. The Unversed emblem adorns the front of its lower body, and its small, circular, black face is on the tip of its upper body. Its red eyes are set in a sorrowful expression. It seems to be related to the Jelly Ball and Shade Jelly Unversed.

Metamorphosis is the process by which something transforms into another form, which this Unversed does.

Abilities

The Metamorphosis has the ability to drain energy out of objects with its tail. It can use its three arms to attack with a spin. The Unversed can also spin around shooting electricity from its tentacales. It may also shoot a laser from its tail. It also posses the ability to turn invisible to infiltrate places or elude foes when in desperate need.

Strategy

1st Battle

This is Ven's first battle with the Unversed, and it takes place while Ven is on his Keyblade Ride, but it's not a very hard battle. Simply dodge the Unversed's attacks and strike with your Ride. After sustaining enough damage the boss will flee.

2nd Battle

The main objective of this battle is to defeat the Unversed while making sure the engine's damage meter stays low. The boss will occasionally latch onto the engine and drain its energy, causing the meter to rise. If the meter reaches the top, it's an instant Game Over. When the boss is latched to the engine, the only way to dislodge it is with the reaction command Astro Shot with Stitch. For the most part it mainly uses physical and Thunder attacks, and when in desperate need, turn invisible to elude Ventus. But, overall,it isn't a too difficult opponent so long as the player pays attention to the damage bar and uses reaction commands when possible.
