When the fight starts Yozora always starts with a different move. There's a small chance Yozora will start the fight with his desperation move. The DM will play out normally and will cause the entirety of the fight to play out in his second phase. If the player isn't comfortable fighting Yozora during his second phase, the player should die and retry the fight.

During his first phase Yozora follows a slight pattern with executing his moves. If you ever see Yozora running at you, he will attempt to steal your keyblade. During this move Yozora summons an orb to surround Sora. If Sora is caught, Yozora will will jump up and destroy the orb with his sword and steal the keyblades power and put it in his sword. While Yozora has your keyblade, you are unable to defend yourself in any way. Your magic get set to the start of MP recharge, your focus meter depletes to zero and all Sora can do is run, dodge, and use items. Yozora will always start with throwing waterga at you if he takes your keyblade. If the waterga attack hits Sora's commands will be periodically replaced with "Lightning" which briefly stuns Sora. After this, Yozora will follow up with a series of slashes which can be dodged if timed properly. Yozora will end this with summoning recitals around sora which will throw multiple copies of his keyblade at him. All of these can be dodge but if Sora is caught, he will be continually damaged by keyblade copies until the attack ends. After the sttack Sora will gain his keyblade back and his MP and focus can be replenished with an Elixir. Easiest method to deal with this is to dodge the first orb, after that Yozora will follow with a series of slashes. It would be best to block immediately after dodging. after the slashes Yozora will attempt the the orb attack 2 more times.

Yozora will summon 3 drones to trap sora and create a pyramid around him. If Sora is caught he will be suspended in the air and blasted with lasers. The player needs to time their dodges so they are outside the pyramid. Yozora will attempt to summon 3 pyraminds around sora. After dodging each of them Yozora follows up with quick slashes that can be block if the player immediately guards. The pyramids can be broken leaving Yozora open if the player times and formchange transformation, or a finisher right as the pyramid is forming. The player can also break the pyramid if after dodging the second pyramid, the player immediately cast Thundaga or Aeroga.

Yozora frequently implements lasers in his fight. He often chains lasers in various patterns, chaining them together with his sword attacks. He usually fires red lasers, but can sometimes fire blue lasers that are unblockable and can diminish Sora's maximum HP.

Occasionally, Yozora will surround himself in a red orb with armor. During this state, he will frequently fire a red tractor beam at Sora. If Sora is caught in it, Yozora will begin to siphon Sora's HP and items, which can heal him, and even a Kupo Coin if Sora has one equipped. If Yozora's health is depleted while he has a Kupo Coin, it will heal him back to half of his HP.
